lehner 3080

i want to build 84" apache in the distant future. when i do i want it to be electric and run 2 z drive speedmaster s6. would 2 lehner 3080 on 50 cells each driving an s6 be a good match? i know the motor would be beastly but i dont know how it would compare to big gas engines. it seems like it might be too much for that drive. maybe on a boat that big each motor can drive a splitter gearbox and it can run 4 s6 drives. just starting the planning now that way in 4 million years when i can build it im ready. thoughts?

ive got the money i just gotta decide if i want to spend it on this. if i do its really a toss up between 84" apache and the 92" cat.

I bet the guys over at rumrunnerracing.com could help better too...

I'm running a 3080/12 in my converted Aquacraft V-24 mono on 10S packs turning the standard prop. Nothing even gets warm and it tops out at about 55Mph so far. I'm using all of the stack hardware with no problems . :D

if the 92" cat your talking about was the hanspeter CC/HPR cat, they used twin 3080/8's running on 80 cells each with two Schulze 40/160 esc's.....

i think you mean 80 cells for the both motors.

RE: lehner 3080

no, i said 80 cells each.....(as in each motor)

it says it right there on the website

that's way too much voltage

CadillacDTS2001 07-30-2007 06:06 PM

RE: lehner 3080

well then the REAL schulze 40-160 which i have will only do up to 40 cells.
hence 40.160
40 cells, 160 amps. its right in the name buddy
error operator

just to prove it to you. for your knowledge. You will have to do a bit of searching for it ( closer to the bottom)

its probably 2 sets of 40 cells in parallel

thats what i was trying to get saleen to specify
but you did before him

RE: lehner 3080

probably....i cant seem to find much more info on this hull except from that quote i posted....i guess you could ask hanspeter over on the RRR forum if you really want to know....i do know the schulze has a 40 cell limit, and it did leave me wondering how the esc could handle that cell amount (your probably right in that the cells are paralleled), but apparently hanspeter knows what he's doing, if i remember correctly that boat gets speeds around 100mph....

I don't understand how you can be poor one week and a few weeks later you can afford a twin lehner setup.
This build will easily exceed $4-5 000.

i went over this in another post. i have exceptional credit and am cleared to borrow alot of money and and probably going to in order to build a really big boat.

RE: lehner 3080

Now I understand the 4 million years part. By that time it should be paid off and cost double of which it would cost if you ACTUALLY had the money as I thought you said earlier.

I'd be very surprised to see this build actually take place.

RE: lehner 3080

i cleared for an amount of 20k but i would be looking to borrow 7k and pay it back in 4 years. and the 4 million years part is planning so i dont screw up the build.

Not to stomp on your project or anything but I seriously would recommend waiting until you HAVE money instead of borrowing it. I'm also a college student studying Mech. Engineering and have been able to stay away from loans of all kind. Believe me, I've saved thousands where interest would normally get ya.

ya i know where your coming from and i just have to decide if its worth spending an extra $1000 to be able to build it 2.5-3 years sooner.
