ESC Suggestions ????
I would like some advice on selecting a better ESC for my SV 27.... I don't like having to arm the ESC every time I run the boat... A switch would be helpful, I am running LIPO's so built in low voltage circuitry would be a big plus.... Water proof case would be a plus, even though I've never had water in the radio box... Fitting the water cooling jacket seems to be a good idea as well. Running BEC needs to be included. What are your thoughts, anyone ? I've experence with running Novak, LRP, and Mamba Brushless in racing Oval and On Road but I'm a new comer to the boat thing.. Are there Aircraft ESC's that might fit the bill as well??? I know that I need at least 45 amps as well as at least 18 volts.. Your thoughts are appreciated! KNOT NUTS (Ole #5)

RE: ESC Suggestions ????
every BL esc has to arm before you run the boat. it takes 2 seconds and thats all.

Thanks, The ones that I'm most familiar with can be programmed and do ont have to be reprogrammed every time that you turn them on...Simply turning on the switch and go race with the settings exactly as they were when you turned it off. No need to go to full throttle then neutral... I suppose that you meant that arming meant giving power to the ESC??? Are there any Esc's that you can program LIPO low voltage circuitry on and off like you would do with Novak or LRP???

RE: ESC Suggestions ????
No where in my manual is LIPO low voltage circuitry mentioned... It is NO problem to pull a trigger and go back to neutral..... I'm looking for a better animal that's all. I'm sure that there are other ESC's used in electric racing other than the one offered by Aquacraft..... Are all boat friendly ESC's Programmed the same??? I doubt it.

RE: ESC Suggestions ????

RE: ESC Suggestions ????
Yes I'm aware and am using a Novak LIPO low voltage circuit now.. I'd really like to know a little more about ESC's that are available.. The one (FUTUBA?) that is offered by Aquacraft is more like an on/off switch than I like.... This may be due to the Brushless motor magnets close proximity to the windings. In many Brushless motors they free wheel to a degree unlike the motor used in the Aquacraft.. ie. Novak's that I'm used to racing Oval with. You couldn't use this (cogging) in a race car because it would instantly spin when you let off the throttle!!LOL!! I've looked at the Castle Creations Hydra's and I'm sure that they are a little more sophisticated than RTR supplied ones... A little more pricey too!!LOL But like in any other type of R/C hardware...You get what you pay for!!!LOL Are there any others out there that I could consider???

RE: ESC Suggestions ????
Tower does carry them.. you'll need only one.. about $25.00...Prop selection has a lot of variables, Trial and error is about the best I can suggest.. Water condition, power, motor, acceleration desired? Top end? I guess it's up to what you're looking for! LOL
