Looking for 80Kms++ BIG BL Cat
 

It's finally that time - Im looking to buy and fit (with Brushless) out a BIG cat - Up around the 40"-50" range in length that i can put into the 80kms+ or 50mph++ range and more - Ive come across the JollyCat Frm OSE, MHZUSA and the Carbon fibre hulls from Hydro Marine - But it's getting to hard (I'm still new to RC - I have a BJ26 and my girlfriend has Shockwave26 with Supervee27 motor package) which be both love racing each other. But I've always wanted a BIG cat thats VVVVVfast - eversince i saw the boats on this website truley awesome!!!! - check it out - http://www.swissmodelpowerboatteam.c...sp?site=videos

Can anyone help in my search with Hull choice, BL motors (single or twin set) ESC requirementsand hardware and everything else I'll need..... thanks

Hi, Joly cat from OSE, KB45 1000KV from OSE, Sentilon HV100 esc from Unitedhobbies, 24 IB3600 cells from.... anywhere, x442 or x445 prob, this set up will take you to 50mph++++, but for what i know the Joly cat is not in stock and its $500 with hardwares, personally i think it too much, i beter go with the H&M M1 Cat and some FDM hardware for much cheaper.

Thanks for responses keep them coming!!! Not to worried about $$$ i've got & calculated $2000 to get the best Cat in the water - My girlfriend is not to happy about it but hey when she buys $1000 shoes I don't say anything about it - I've had a quaote fro FE in Aust that will put me in the range of 80kms+ but more ideas are more than welcomed thanks

Expect to invest around 1500++ USD to get to a reliable 80 kph, on the first pass..

I’ve played quite a bit with the basics and have found that you need a strong drive train (for example a .150 prop drive shaft) , brushless motor, Lipo batteries, balanced prop (something supplied by a pro), speed controller that can handle the amps, and last but not least a radio that is hi-tech and is glitch free… Imagine losing control at 60 kph and having the boat hit some rocks.. Talking for experience..

Make sure that you have a boat hull that can take the speed i.e, it should have a layer of carbon fiber in the stern.

I am in the process of building an HPR06. This is one of the boats that is on the site that you posted. It is one of the nicest hulls I have ever seen. I would recommend it.
2 Motors; Neu 1521 1Y
2 Escs; Kontronik Power Jazz
Batteries; TP Extreme 10s2p 5000mah
I am shooting for 70+mph but not to start. I would like to start it around 50mph and work my way to 70+. But this is all high end electronics. They cost big $$$$ if you want a boat that is fast and reliable. I have already pushed the $3000 mark on this one. You could run cheaper electronics but you get what you pay for.

But I wouldn't recommend someone "new to RC" jumping into a 50+MPH boat. I would recommend you working your way up to that goal. Things happen really fast a 50+MPH. One little mistake could cost you your boat, OR SERIOSLY INJURE SOMEONE.
I would recommend you building a boat that is upgradeable. For example start out with a lower cell count and add cells to work your way up to the speed you want. Take my setup for example I am not going to start with a 10s2p pack. I am going to start with a 6s2p pack and work my way up to the 10s2p pack. Even though I already have all the cells to make the lager pack. I don't feel comfortable starting out with this boat going that fast.

It's been awhile & I'm still in process of researching equipment to putting this boat together - my question to any one out their is would i need to go twin motor or can i go single motor set up to reach these kinds of speeds 80-90++ kms????

Twin motors do not add speed. Hulls powered by a single motor in most cases will be faster.

What do twin motors buy you then if not speed. Pretty sound? Control. I think that the offshore guys have gone multi motor b/c they can only get so much power out of one IC engine. Here there are more options for power so that's not why. I see alot of expensive twins. None of the 55+ inch boats are single power plant.

Check out Drifter series. I saw one break 132kph.(80+) with twin Plettenbergs and 8S ABC LiPo's.

Thank for the tip - but I think I'm going to go with a HPR 06 Cat running with 2x 1950/10 Lehner BL motors + 2x Schulze 40.160 ESC - this could put it in the range of 130kms+ the SV27's and the ducks and everthing in between wont know or see what hit em hahaha - Well thats what the guys in Germany tell me. Choosing hardware/prop hopefully wont to hard -maybe something like Octura x442 x450 - the only thing I'm searching for is the radio pack to buy? everyone say Dx7 - But what about Futaba 6EX, JR x2720 or x2610 are these good 6-7ch radios for water craft?????

I live in Germany, so I see all the latest in tech. Most guys are very secretive about thei set-ups. I personally like Futaba radios because they have never failed me once, and I have been flying models for seven years. But everyone has their preferrences.

Can any one assist - Having problems trying track down somewhere/ anywhere to purchase a HRP06 Cat any suggestions???? been trying to contact email - swissmodelpowerboatteam - no one has responded yet - does any else sell this hull apart from these guys - I live in Australia - I'd rather order this from states or even from down under - just a little concerned ordering from Europe.

Hans Peter Roski ( HPR) will ansver you but he is very busy, i have talked to him and there is about 4 week waiting for the hulls
he has has a really good reputation so he should be safe to do business with.
i think MHZusa is seling a copy of hanspeter CT03 but that is a bogger hull (170cm) and than 2000$ woun't be enough.
I'm in progress of starting on a big hpr cat and I'm closing in on 10.000$ so I'm considering gass or A hpr CT04

If you want to buy 'down under' my Eurocat would suit big electric power and is made here in Auckland NZ.
It was designed for Zenoah or Quickdraw and is 50 inches long with the basic flat transom and 54 with the transom extension.
My Victory version has hit 90 kph and is rock steady in any water conditions.
