Will this idea work?(just a rough idea)

Hello everyone
I just thought of my first rough list of electric parts for my first project.
Castle hydra esc 120 w/bec and Blue Nemesis motor XL:
http://www.finedesignrc.com/motorsne...eesccombos.asp
Futaba 2PL 2-Channel AM transmitter
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXENN3**&P=7
2-Channel AM Receiver 75MHz w/o Crystal
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXMRE6&P=V
Servo
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXH288&P=V
two Hobbico HydriMax 6.0V 4200mAh NiMH batteries
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXMTX4&P=ML
And an on/off switch.
Any suggestions or anything to change?

that speedy motor compbo says 10 cells & up, the packs you have listed are 5 cells each. you'll need to either have a harness for the cells, or put them into a single pack. what are you putting it in?

I was thinking of getting two of the 4200s and using a Y-harness.

Would that work?

that'd work. i'd suggest deans plugs as well, they can handle a lot more current.

Just curious why you are gonig w/ an AM Rx/Tx. I got a Hytec FM agressor for about the same price. I know there are good AM systems but......FM.

I just found this good radio system and thought "oh cool maybe this is what i'm looking for." cuz I didn't care whether the system was am or fm.
Is fm better that am or something?

Yes, FM is alot better. Longer range and stronger.

I have limited experience. I have an SV27 that was delivered with an AM radio (RTR = usually low end). The system was prone to glitching. The concensus was to use an FM system to eliminate this. Maybe the higer end AM systems are just as good. I know they are use on planes in come cases. That's all I have on this. There is a thread on SV27 radios that covered this in detail, it's probably buried deep now but you could look at it. I didn't mean to scare you.

Those batteries are radio receiver packs. Notice the tiny wire size...and the "NiMH 6.0V 4200mAh Sub-C Flat Receiver Battery Pack" in the description.

While they may be suitable to drive multiple servos in large aircraft (hence the 'high discharge' vs normal AA receiver packs), they probably aren't designed to discharge at the insane rate that the brushless motor/ESC combo require.

Not all sub C cells are the same.

Good catch. I thought they looked funny but didn't see the wires. Yea if you hook that up to a brushless motor/esc combo you may have your self a toaster![:o]

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXLZK6&P=ML ... get 2 of em. 12 cells, rather than 10. and they are cheaper than the other ones.. and they arent receiver packs, lol.

This is the one that was listed in the initial post. Looks like 24 gauge wire. I wouldn't hook it to an ESC with those. Also the plug has an erie similarity to the one that plugs into my reciever. pack that plugs into a reciever. What would you call that?

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXMTX4&P=ML

It's described as a Sub-C flat Rx U. I know what sub-c means. I know what flat means. Rx.

Now what you've got there. Those are the real thing

I see.
About the SMC IB4200 6-Cell 4200mAh NiMH Stick Pack that patrick mentioned, how do you know if the voltage is right? Cuz the other parts like the receiver, servo, and esc seem to all be able to be powered by a 6v battery.
