Proboat apache cat questions

After getting into rc cars and then rc planes, i find myself wanting to get into rc boats. Looking around for some, i stumbled upon the apache catameran by proboat. this seems the perfect solution for me as its not too expensive, fast, and is made by a reputable company. What i was wondering though is a) is it even out yet? b) does it live up to the expectations (is it any good) and c) would it be possible to drop a speed 700 motor with 8 cells into it with stock electronics and about how fast would you think it would go with that setup. Thanks in advance!

Oh also how does the proboat shockwave 26 compare to this in terms of speed/handling? thanks.

It looks a nice boat.
I would grab one but I have a cat already.
My suggestion is to get a boat and run it stock to get a feel for the whole game first.
This would make a good first boat.
As for upgrades, well in my opinion you can fit anything into anything if you really want to, within reason of course.
Go get one, run it and come back with pics and opinions.
Welcome to the mad world of boats.
oh one more thing, most of the guys here are nuts about videos of things going fast.;)

hmmm...well crap i was really looking forward to that... well what about the ABC volan catameran (on horizon)? is that any good for a firs time boater? it looks ok, but not nessecarily as good as the apache. maybe i should just go for the shockwave? is it any good

Actually my original first choice was the villain, but i cant find anywhere that sells it. is it even being made anymore? the review on it was done in the summer so it seems odd that it could clear out that fast, but i cant find it anywhere. anyone know where i might find one? thanks.

for the villain, try tower hobbies, i know they have it. The thing about the villain is that you still need to get a charger and two 7.2volt battery packs. The shockwave and the apache both have the same hardware and motors, just diferent hulls. Instead of going for the 5 pound motor and battery's that will sink such a small hull, go for the traxxas titan 12 turn 550 motor. Yes, i said it. 12 TURNS AND 550 SIZE!!!!! this means that it won't overload the electronics, and it will go really fast. In a car(what it is advertised for) The car tops out at 35mph out of the box. On a boat you could fit an extra cell or two in there and probably go 35-40 ish. B/c boats aren't quite as fast as cars. This motor is available for $20 from tower hobbies.
