Villian ex esc

I want to put new motors in my villain ex i heard trinity monster motors was a good choice they are 19t i want to keep the stock esc i want to get 7 cell batteries is that to many volts for maine evx.

No, the stock ESC and motors in the Villain can run 7 cells already. The ESC may not be able to handle 19 turn motors though. Be careful with putting hotter motors in the boat. It's not made for speed, and becomes very twitchy and borderline uncontrollable over 30MPH. I've had a friend sink his twice because of this, and it ruined a $175 ESC the first dunk. The vee hull is made to go slower, ride lower in the water, and cut through waves, it's not made to ride high in the water.

I think 19s should be fine, but i wouldn't go any lower than that. I have just heard from a buddy with an EX (he has 12 turn Trinity motors and a different ESC...he's the one that keeps sinking his) that 19 turns is also the limit for the stock ESC, so you *should* be good to go there as well!

i run to trinity 13 turns and mine handels fine. i think your friend just cant drive. the boat is definitly capably of speeds of 30+. just make sure u have water kooling. i run a novake super duty esc with is $175 and i think it is a very good quality esc and keeps very good temps.

He can definitely drive, and his handles well at 3/4 throttle, it just goes nuts at top speed. It can easily reach speeds of 30 on hot props, stock motors, and 14 cells. Maybe yours is just really going slow and that's why it handles so well. He's running the Novak as well. The boat chine walks because there is no hull in the water to support it, a prop catches, and it flips/rolls/sinks. On the other hand, my Supervee has a MUCH flatter hull which is far more stable in the water. It's a simple matter of physics and hydrodynamics. There's just not much point in trying to make it 30-35MPH fast and having constant crashes when the money can be better spent on a boat that's actually built for speed, not a slower backyard pond/new driver type of boat.
i have also driven it and rolled it and I have 20+ years of boat building and driving, so I'm faily confident that it's the boat and not the driver! ;-)

i am running about 45-50 mph in my villain. the only reason his chine walks is probly a: b/c his props are to big.b: his trim is to high. or both. i run mine max trim with stock pitch props and it dosent chime walk at all. i go into wind and it supports the hull very well while running. goin with the wind is just plain fun launching the boat 5-10 inches off the water:D

the stock villain ESC the EVX handles down to twin 550 19 turn medium modified motors. Also up to 14 cells. The monster max 19t motors and 14 cells would be pushing it in my opinion. I would do the 19t motors and run 12 cells.....

From what I read, that hull is a handful over 30MPH. the 19t motors should just about put you there. Good luck.

Have you herd anything on the Venom 5000mAh 7.2volt battery. Is that the best battery i can run at 7.2 volts
