RE: Skunk Work Brushless setup help

Well I recieved an answer to my complaint to you know who, after a paragraph of excuses it was apparent that they were just that excuses. Needless to say they wont be getting my monies in the future. But since Im to recieve my much missed $$$ I am making preparations to purchase some goodies.
I am gonna get the 125A ESC from etti as well as their water cooled carbon fiber jacket. For batteries Im still looking.

Now on NEU motors can you honestly say their performance is so much so they are justified spending almost four times that of what Id spend on a similair fiego or hacker??? I have that coin to spend but will someone like me with limited FE expierance be able to harness its capabilities or wouls a fiego be a better starting point? Dont get me wrong I want all out SPEEEED but for that kinda money I could outfit a couple of hulls with new motors.

Opinions????

The Hacker is still a $200 motor.. The lesser guys are $50~80, The NEU is arguably the best motor you can have.

ok so Im convinced. Now battery packs.... having some difficulty there where should I get them the prices seem all over the board. at www.SkySharkRC.com they have http://www.skysharkrc.com/shop/?shop...187033&cat=24&
3-cell 3000 mAh lithium polymer battery pack with 20C (60 amps) max continuous discharge rate.
Dimensions: .75" x 2.0" x 6.22" ; Weight: 8.7 oz. SALE PRICING
SKU Number:3000-3U
Sale Price: $64.95 (Regular Price:$89.95)
But had Hobbycity (whom I guess is United Hobby since thats what the google search came up) had these
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=5583 at 124.99 almost double the price but still cheaper than some I have seen.
Almost have the whole wish list made... HELP[:o]

Thanks so much BB you an wiggle have been invaluable sources in converting myself from nitro to FE. Now as soon as I have the room I'll bring on the gas monsters [>:]

they show at two cells...awww wait Ive been going at this wrong I see in the earlier posts you were saying 2s1p. for some reason I was looking at 3s1p. I had dismissed battle packs earlier cuz of that thinking. Ok so their price is reasonable. I think with the NEU 1515 1y motor Etti 125A esc an two of 2s1p 3700mah batteries I should be set huh?

How experienced are you with RC boating? Going fast is great, as long as you are prepared for it. Going faster than what you can handle can turn a fun experience into an expensive nightmare. Boats don't run fast under water. A NEU motor is the way to go if you want to race. I won't debate that. The Feigao's are good sport runners. The choice is yours and should be based on your experience and budget.
Scott says he has customers that run in the 50's on Feigao 7XL and 8XL's.

I posted on another board to see what the NEU motor recommendations are. I'll let you know.

Thats why you only run the boat @ 4s lipo (id get 2s2p's or 4s1p's, use 2 packs in there to adjust weight and cog., he will go past 50 with that setup and can always add weight and move the packs around to dial it in.

RE: Skunk Work Brushless setup help

I agree with BB. Two packs is the way to go. What prop are you planning on running?

I have a X640 an X642 soI'll start there an see where it goes. My expierance is in the buildingbeen known to lay some clean glass since I learned from a personal friend (first names bob an a hint big daddy don garletts body man for years) so Ive always helped the LHS frequenters with seting up anything meant to go(planes, cars an heli bodies mostly). I just havent spent alot of time "behind the wheel" especially in FE had a few nitros an one klunker of a gas weedy plyboat. But been getting more serious about running. Wont race right away but definetly will tweek her to the nines. Thanks for the suggestions guys! will let you know as I put it together.

The props are good. Don't forget to get a water jacket for your motor...

RE: Skunk Work Brushless setup help

I got one recommendation so far from another board on the NEU motor for this hull...
"I will try a 1515/2.5D (1700KV), w/ 4S2P lipos in parallel, and Hydra 120....and mabey 1515/1Y (2200KV) w/smaller prop and the same 4S2P and H120....Mabey even drop to 1512/2.5D (2000KV) on 2S2P in series.."

No need for all of them motor's.... 1515/1y is my weapon of choice.

RE: Skunk Work Brushless setup help

Whatever your motor choice, just watch the temps of the motor and ESC on the first runs.

Cool. I just wanted to know how yours was coming along. I was going to do some more tweaks on mine to go faster, but wanted to know what others were doing first.
