Blackjack 26 Electric speed control problems
I have a Blackjack 26 brushless and I was wondering if anyone has had problems with the stock speed control?
The one that came with the boat got hot at one of the end capacitors, it started melting the plastic housing. I sent it back and installed the new one. This one runs cool but it act a little crazy at time. The rudder and propeller start working for know reason. I turn the transmitter on install both batteries turn the switch to on and I get one beep. The rudder turns and when I hit the trigger on the transmitter the propeller turns just few turns until I put it in the water then it works fine. Sometime when I take it out of the water is when it gets crazy. Am I doing something wrong? any suggestions from the pro's would be helpful. Thanks Bill |
RE: Blackjack 26 Electric speed control problems
I had some issues similar to yours but in my case there was some moisture on the receiver. Took out of container, let it sit on heater and sprayed with electronics silicone spray. Now I can run with it underwater.

Thanks for your input Ivan.
The receiver compartment is dry. I'm getting some water through the drive shaft but it's not getting through to the speed control or receiver compartment. May be I have a defective receiver or something is interfering with the transmitter signal. Bill |

That doesn't sound like it's based in the speed control if it's effecting the rudder. I know there have been lots of reports of "glitching" with the SV27's stock AM radio system. I wonder if this is the same case. Many have upgraded to afforable FM systems in the case of the SV.

Thanks for answering this problem I'm having.
Maybe the FM system would be the best way to go. Bill |
RE: Blackjack 26 Electric speed control problems
[>:] [size=2]I’m having problems with my ESC (Stock BJ26) cutting out as if the batteries were low while in the water... While I saw researching my problem I came across your problem... The ESC is in the BJ26 is designed to cut out if there is no water presser on the prop to prevent damage to the motor… As long as it runs correctly in the water you should be ok… if you still have the twitch or glitch while running your boat in the water you need to look into your radio… As for me I’m still looking for the answer to my problem… I will look into the receiver being wet as Headhunter23 suggested… Other then that I’m afraid I’m looking at a new ESC in my future… Anyone able to steer me in the right direction for a new ESC??? Right I’m running two 7cells and I want to step up to Lipos in the future… I’m also running the stock prop and stock motor.

RE: Blackjack 26 Electric speed control problems
My esc started acting up the first time I ran it. The next time out, after running 1 set of batteries, it would no longer run WOT. Horrizon hobby replaced the ESC under warranty. I have not put that esc back in since I bought a Hydra 120.

RE: Blackjack 26 Electric speed control problems
Mine was going completely nuts after the third run and the radio box was not wet at all so i ended up putting a traxxas receiver and jr servo in it now it runs fine but i did get rid of the BEC because it was overheating my servo whenever i ran my ib 4200's i also recently found out to fix your prop-not-moving problem put a grim prop on it the extra wait will make the esc think its in water and she'll spin a bit more also put a bead of silicon around the edge of that leaky water jacket!
