Killer BJ FE conversion

I picked up a NIB BJ26 today, guy said his son didn't want it (more likely he stole it) anyways i gave him $50 for it and off i went, iv got every thing pulled out except stuffing tube and stringers,I built some carbonfiber battery holders in the 2 large areas beside were the motor used to be,put foam under the boxes for support and flotation, Battery boxes are 100% waterproof at this time! Now im looking for a 3/16th's strut with a skeg on it, any source for it? and i have a rudder on hand! Iv built 4 4s2p 8000 mah Lipo's for the hull, fitted with with a 9l and x640 prop it should run decent for a sport boat!

I run the octura one on my renegade rigger, it neeed a tidy up with a fine file, i've had no issues with it. you can polish them up if you want it to look bling.

nitro? come on its need electric power. Its not much better to work with. not to mention neater and clean
Hope it works out

RE: Killer BJ FE conversion

The 1515/1y is not to much motor, Its just right with a y535 on 4s.

RE: Killer BJ FE conversion

BBMODS, here's a shot of octura strut with skeg, needs polishing though but i think it will look great with polished and shiny prop...btw, this thing needs bearing when ordering..hope to see a nice result..;)

Oh that, I had ones of those ( the larger ones) and it bend very easily. I don't know if mine was a bad one or what, But it wasn't very durable.

Beryllium copper is hard, if yours was soft there was something wrong.

RE: Killer BJ FE conversion

Yea,
At least comparing my Alum vs. Be/Cu props the Aluminum was way less durable. Also way lighter. In the case of running hardware I'll stay with aluminum as it's ligher and seems to hold up to the task. BE is for props! I will go to Octura for h/w on my first scratch build as the price is right (and it will get polished)

i thought so, the color was a bit off, it was quite dark but whether that has anything to do with it to not i don't know

BBmods - Not sure if this is 3/16...[link]http://www.rossisales.com/strut.html[/link]
Also, Ray Fuller has a skeg option on the strut for his mini hardware kit.
