newbie needs help with speed controller

I have been flying rc airplanes for 25yrs, I always wanted a pt boat, but was always too busy scratch building planes. Proboat came out with their rtr pt boat and I thought that a good start to get into rc boating. If I like it I will scratch build my next boat.
The speed controller is turning out to be a mystery. One minute it wont go to full throttle, next minute, the 0 set point seems to move so that when the stick is neutral (and I run out of trim throttle tab, it still runns a little forward (and sometimes backward). There was nothing in the documentation, and proboat has not been very responsive.
I assume there is a "key" that you have to put in....i.e. push throttle all the way forward, then back, then to neutral" or something, but I cannot figure out what it is.

Any help setting this speed controller would be greatly appreciated!

Hey pahtreek, I am not familatr with the Pro Boat esc on that model, however I do find that the problem with many RTRs is the stock AM radio system.
I would recomend that you check out the Scale Boating section on this site, if nobody can help you out here.
Good luck.

I also do believe might be radio interferance! try to get the receiver as far as possible from motor. get a BEC and hook to main battery or re-check batteries on your receiver pack.

Sounds like you describe static problems!

Good luck!

I see that this boat comes with an FM reciever, not AM, my bad.
Any luck with your ESC?
