Receiver Pack/ ESC Issues

I have a Hydra 120 w/ a Feigao 8XL in my SV27 and I am trying to use a 4AA receiver pack from my T-maxx but the ESC does not work when running off the pack. The steering servo works fine but the ESC makes this clicking noise and will not respond to the controller at all. Is 4.8V not enough juice? It works just fine when the main batteries (2 6-cell EP 4200) supply the power. Also, I have to connect and disconnect the batteries 2-3 times to be able to properly arm the ESC like the CC manual says to do. Is this normal? Do you really need a receiver pack when running 14+ cells like the manual states? Thanks.

I can help!

Yes you need an RX pack for that many cells. It does work, as many of us do it. The center wire is to be pushed up so it is not connected to the RX.

4.8v is more than enough. How do you have the receiver lead currently?

The receiver pack has an on/off switch. Could this be the source of my problem? Ryan, I am not sure what you mean by "The center wire is to be pushed up so it is not connected to the RX." This is the pack I am using now http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXJF24&P=OW

I meant the ESC receiver lead. You must push up the center wire so that it is disconnected when plugged in to the receiver. How do you currently have this?

I have the ESC plugged into the receiver under normal circumstances.

Then your ESC BEC is not disabled and still continuing to try and power the receiver messing everything up. I've never done this before and do not know if damage is possible. Push the center pin upwards on the connector so it pushes out. This way the ESC's BEC will be disconnected.
