Kill Switch or Power Loop Plug
 

I understand that in Europe they require a Kill Switch or Power Loop Plug to quickly shut down the electric motor, if necessary. It sounds like a good idea on these 100+ amp speed set-ups.

Does anyone have any specifics or examples or pictures of how this is being done without causing unwarranted added resistance?

When adding something in to the system resistance is unavoidable.

It would be best to take one of the battery leads and extend it to part of the hull. Epoxy in a female bullet to be flush with the hull. Leaving a few inches for the other lead solder a male bullet plug. This will get what you want done.

Ray - BACKEMF has a photo, hopefully he will chime in. I don't bother with this step as I see it as not a safety issue.

Yo, here is what I did.

Heavy 10 guage wire, dual leads for 2P, worked into a single 8mm bullet connector on the deck. I got the connectors from HobbyKing, AKA HobbyCity.

They also have 10G waire.

I used carbon fiber, but I do not suggest it for this application, wood or fibergalss is fine. CF conducts electricity but I made 100% shure I would not have problems. In hindsight I wouldn't use it again.

If you only run 1P, then you use less wireand 5.5 or 6mm plugs will do fine.

My wires are a bit long, again hindsight is 20/20.
