Strut question

I am toying with the idea of using an SV27 strut on a sport boat boat that I am building, which is a 24" mono.
I know that there is a recomended length for a strut based on hull length. but I cannot remember what it is.
Would the SV strut work as is, or would it be too long to run properly?
Could it be cut down?
May not be the best way to go, but humor me please. ;)
Thanks.

RE: Strut question

do it, no issue, the length kinda helps in making your boat run like the hull was longer so you can get more stable speeds.

RE: Strut question

Struts can definately be too long for a hull, causing the boat to run too far out of the water and inhibiting smooth turning. There is no hard and fast "rule" about strut length, what works, works. The SV strut may be fine on that particular hull, I say try it. It should be possible to trim to off 1/2" to 3/4" if it seems too long.
