HPR cat
1 Attachment(s)
hey, I thought I would share the progress on my HPR BIG CAT.
It's gonna be elektro. |
RE: HPR cat
What motors/escs are you going to run. I am going to use 3080's with hydra 240hv's I just finished the carbon in mine. Can you put up some pics of the inside. Also do you know on the hatch cutout, is it cut just on the inside of the lip or right on the lip. I have never done one before.

RE: HPR cat
Very Nice! I'm just making a small 34" dual drive cat. Budgetsville, lol... I have a pair of 7L fiegaos, some nice esc's for $30 on ebay(100amp units).
I have sponson work to do as it was an inexpensive knock-off poorly made on the bottom. When I get around to "that" build, I'll post a thread. |
RE: HPR cat
Small is nice though, I have no idea yet how I will get to the lake. Modified kayak rack most likely. I am doing a 40" cat from scratch. I just scaled up the 29" plans that are on here. I will probably get a set of fiegaos too, as they are reasonable.

RE: HPR cat
Here are my home laminated carbon fiber front mounts. I figured 6 layers of 6 oz cloth would be plenty strong.

RE: HPR cat
the HPR is a beauty i gotta admit...though MHZ have just launched some very similar large cats. As regards the home build - rock on - i think it's great! where did you find the plans?

RE: HPR cat
The plans are under the 29" cat build just scan back in the electric forum a bit. Yea I am also excited to see the finished MHZ 2.45m mystic cat.
No updates for me, maybe next week I will have a carbon radio box and rear mounts finished to show. |
RE: HPR cat
justintime,
Are you talking about the Shockerman cat? If so I am building one but I believe I have lost the plans due to a hard drive failure. |
RE: HPR cat
i've been looking for those plans on the net, but they don't seem to be hosted anywhere....in any case, here are a couple of HPR Cats going cheap on ebay....;-)

RE: HPR cat
I may have them on a thumb drive somewhere. I'll let you know if I fine. he gave me permission to distribute the plans.

RE: HPR cat
I'd really appreciate that. My email is [email protected]
scratch building keeps me happy for much longer - since usually it's more time consuming....thanks dayton |

RE: HPR cat
Hey, JetKat I hope you don't think I hijacked your thread, I really am looking for pics and input from someone else doing one of these big brushless boats.
|
RE: HPR cat
Please go and have a look at www.speedtoy.com for the most BEAUTIFULLLLL HPR's, especcially the Bud Light one...
|
RE: HPR cat
That site is great for paint scheme ideas. Sv27dayton, that was the shockerman cat, I stretched it to about 40" (homebuilt hpr115) I just finished the hatch, I will post some pics soon.

RE: HPR cat
I thought I recognized the lines. There are alot of similar boats but when you build one you kinda know it when you see it. :)

I have not gotten the motors yet, but I need to cut the carbon bulkhead first on the cnc. They aint gonna be cheap I know! the hatch is ready made from Hanspeter so I did not have to do anytthing with that. Progress is slow but steady. I just put the scoops (sealed) . the boat is 7 feet long and transportation is my biggest worry- good thing my buddy has a pick up.
I just get whatever I need from HPR. I love your carbon mounts! very nice work! I plan on cutting mine on the cnc router, I can do this for anyone if they like for a small charge as a friend of mine scans and cuts them for me. I think the next item is to mount the steering servo, probably use two in tandem. here is a pic of my Drambuie that is keeping me busy in the meantime. I will post some inside pics soon on the big cat. (when I get something done!) |

This is about it for now... the scoop is open in front and the slits allow air to escape since it will be fully sealed boat.

RE: HPR cat
I don't often admit this, much less say it out loud....but i'm JEALOUS!!!!! ;-) looking good buddy!
|
RE: HPR cat
You do great work Jetkat! And yeah, i'm officially jealous too... I will dream about that twin drive carbon set-up of yours tonight, swweeeeet!
|
RE: HPR cat
you guys are too kind!
anything at all I can do to help, I am in. |
RE: HPR cat
ok then here you go...how about suggesting a place where i could get a couple of those cat stingers for a reasonable price? (reasonable for me would be less than 100 bucks...)
|
RE: HPR cat
forgive me, but what are stingers? you mean swimmers?
I need to change my profile as well, I am no longer in Gainesville. I live in Sarasota florida now. |
