Traxxas Blast Problems

I have the old style Traxxas blast. I bought it a couple years ago just to have a little fast of a boat or just something to start off with. The first time i took it off on the water, it did terrible. It wouldn't go fast at all. It seems like when i am holding the boat out of the water the propellor has plenty of speed but when i put it in the water it just creeps along. It won't even plane on top of the water at all. It looks and sounds like it is sucking more air than water or something. Thats why i put it away years ago and now i took it out to play with it again but it is still doing the same thing. Will someone please help.

I tried two different types of batteries and tried moving the the prop up and down. I will try to get a video of it soon. But i just can't figure out what is wrong. It has never worked right since i bought it

You can change the angle of the propeller. Tip it up and the boat will plane better, but bounce more. Does the prop have any knicks in it or rough edges? Might cause the prop to cavitate. Start of at a slower speed then ramp it up might help. I have had little problems with mine. One thing I suggest you get is the water cooling kit though to keep temps down. Here is a quick vid of mine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEZMGQoCL6Y

I did notice today that the tip of one of the blades is broken. Could that be the prob? I have never seen this boat work rite ever since i bought it, it has never worked right. But i feel kinda stupid asking this but wat is "cavitate"?

RE: Traxxas Blast Problems

cavitation is when the boat gets air to the prop and it doesnt give the push that it should have. thats the best explination i can give.

The broken blade is definately the problem. Hold the boat in the water and give it some throttle. If you notice water being pushed by the prop its good. If you notice a lot of bubbles (cavitation) then its bad.

no stupid questions here.

When the prop sucks air it's airation. When the prop is submerged and causes the water to turn to gas due to the low pressure created by the spinning blades, it's cavitation. People often use the term cavitation for both scenarios, and one can often lead to the other.

Will the propeller from a nitro vee fit on the blast cause the that was the only one they had the LHS

I would suggest you get to know your LHS employees, they can be a great asset. The reason I mention this is you were apparently at the LHS (or perhaps you called there) to get a prop for your Blast yet didn't ask them if the Vee prop would work on your Blast. The hobby shop guys should be there to help out customers with those exact types of questions. LHS also might have some good information where to get together with other RC boaters or places to fly your plane.

The funny thing was they didn't even know themselves if the propellor would fit but it did so im happy
