balancing

didnt find any info on prop balancing here. here is an overly informative video of how to balance a prop. the first half of the video is basically worthless in my opinion, however it does contain a pleatera of info for those that have never tried balancing, this video is how i learned to balance props

i dont like the search engine on this site, it never gives me what im searching for, i wouldn't have posted this if i knew one existed, yeah the whole video is a bit much to sit through, really no need for that much talking about what you will need. i need to read through that thread, im having problems getting my prather 220 just right, it balances out horizontaly but i cant stop it vertically both ways or like at 1 and 7, i think it is the hub that is off but im not a pro at balancing yet, and i do it with hand files so it takes me a while but i would rather do that than hack it up with my rotary tool

+1 the search engine sucks on this, theres a lot of good info here, but its all buried, to never be seen again due to a poor search engine

RE: balancing

OSE has a lot of good info on prop call outs, selecting the correct one and Andy Kunz wrote the book on balancing. There is another one I have saved on my home computer but I'm out of town. It's nice b/c it has some diagrams. Bottom line more information is better, even if it confilcts a little bit.

No problems with the search engine on this site.
Just typed in 'boat prop sharpening' & select 'R/C boats general discussion' in the forum box & you get this & there's four links to choose from on the first page.

[link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3120686/anchors_3120686/mpage_1/key_boat%252Cprop%252Csharpening/anchor/tm.htm#3120686[/link]

It's the sticky that Ryan spoke of in his post at the top of the page in General Discussion. Easy to find.
This is a huge site remember. Not just F/E boats but also planes, helis, airboats, subs, full size boats, full size planes etc. If you just type in 'prop sharpening' you'll get a thousand hits from all those forums. Just be more precise in your search parameters. A search engine gives you exactly what you ask for.

Perhaps if the moderators are monitoring this, placing a sticky on prop sharpening on this forum would be a great help to others in the future, as this is where people will most likely look for it, I think.

All the best.
Paul.
