evx-2 overvolt?

has anybody out there ran more than 16.8 volts to the evx-2? i am looking at running 2 9.6v batteries at it. any advice out there on this subject?. got tired of the 16.8 volts in the boat already. i know the traxxas xl5 can handle up to 9.6v and is posted to do so, but the evx2 does not say anything past 16.8 volts. thanks

I wouldnt do it, if its rated at 16.8, i wouldnt want to kill it for no reason. maby upgrade props?2x7.4v lipo will make a preformance jump over even the 16.8

RE: evx-2 overvolt?

Dont do it. I'm running an EVX2 Marine in a 40" Admiral NQD with 2 8.4v mimhs. I'm running Graupner 600's now but they get way hot so im going to get Kershaw 700's in a lower rpm per volt. 16.8 is plenty of juice to run on, just buy better motors or upgrade your props. The EVX's can handle up to 180 amps.......thats a bunch.......a strong 700 motor only pulls about 30 amps. Dont fry your expensive ESC. By the way, what knid of boat are you running..................a Villain?
