watched the video, pretty cool, bounces alot in small chop,i like the idea of switchable lipo/nihm though.it would be nice if proboat would incorporate that feature into the fastech, save alot of greif.

$399,comingout late june.

I just had a look at websitewww.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx
Has someprettydeliciousfeatures. One i like is this two hatches and the magnet to hold it on.
In the video it looks like it likes to ride on top of the wavesallot....Personallyi would not like my boat
jumping around on those small waves...

The air time suggests that it's running lipos in the video (light).  I don't like the bouncing but I have to say it seems to be balanced properly.  It keeps a good attitude in the air and lands properly without getting upset.  That's impressve.  But the bottom line is when your prop is not in the water, you are slowing down.  It looks kinda fun but I'd guess that stability would ultamately be like the SV or worse.  Probably even wilder with some mild speed increases.  The big question is what market are they going after?  It's too similar to the FFT.

I like the one battery brushless set up idea but the boat don't look stable.

Maybe some trim tabs will help it out?

RE: Proboat WidowMaker

The running attitude is typical for a stepped hull, the air drawn under the hull makes the boat run very free (and fast), add a little chop and this is what you get.
Well set-up, my stepped hulls run stable in a similar way.

The cornering of these hulls needs getting used to, it's not smooth at all, like a nonstepped hull, it's more 'square'ish...

Trimtabs are a bandaid for a poor set-up, this is simply the way these type of hull run.

Regards, Jan.

i just got off the phone with Horizon ProBoat. They said that alot of the boats speed is due to the hull design. And it is cheaper in america compared to most countrys.

Well, it does look like proboat finally got the turn fin angles right. ;)

It's nice, but by the looks of the video, my brushless AQ Hammer is at least that fast...maybe faster, and it didn't cost $269 to build either.

www.youtube.com/watch

I do hear a LOT of people that just want to buy a similar setup without being bothered to build anything...this boat would be good if that's what you are after.

can this boat run off a single 3 cell lipo from the box if i just add my own lipo cutoff? i think it could handle it. what do you guys think.
