Boat ID?

1 Attachment(s)
I went down to my LHS to buy a motor for my Rustler and the guy there had this boat and asked me if I wanted it so he gave it to me for free, but i have no idea what it is. There is a name on it but not sure of the rest, it says DANVO. Alls I know is that it is pretty old. Any info please help, I would like to find the full name of the boat and maybe some reviews.

Thanks, Chris

P.S. Sorry about the pics being so big I have a messed up format or something. If you click them they get a little smaller.

Nice little find. That is the kind of project i love:D...........................drop a 380L brushless in it................hmmmmm maybe about a 2500 kv +/- , a turnigy 35 amp marine esc and a 3s lipo.........and...............Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeee!!! [X(]What is it, about 18-22 inches long?

RE: Boat ID?

It's a bit heavy for a 380 i believe. I had one and it was pretty hefty plastic. I would say a Super Vee motor or a UL-1 motor on 4S and a 42mm prop. 4s1P 5000Mah and an esc is your choice,.

Its 24-30" long??? I forget...

Yeah..................i was just throwin that setup out there by guessing the size..........................i wonder how big? Still i'd love to set that sucker up. Sounds like your set-up would make it stupid fast...................we like stupid fast!:D

Its about 23", It is very light, its made from thin plastic.

I thought it looked thin in the pics, although the pics were so small i couldnt really tell:), I think you could get away with a long 380 possibly.........................Just for fun I'll throw these out there (its because i really cant help myself, and it looks so fun).:D

Turnigy ESC 35 amp water cooled $40 : http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...hless_Boat_ESC

KB 28-47 inrunner 2600kv $28 : http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...hless_Inrunner

Tunigy 3s 20c 3000mah lipo $21 : http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s..._20C_Lipo_Pack

There you go -> $89 bucks!! You'd be scootin across the lake!!

Its a Danvo Dream of America
I used to race one at the Batavia races in 2001 and 2002. They were ment for 12 cells and a 700 sized motor.
Does your boat have anything inside?

You have to slide the screen over Ned and you can see 3 different pictures. Some pics of it inside and transom.

I am currently going to run a 12t brushed motor in it just until I can get some money to buy a Feigao motor. What size prop do you think I could run with, with a Speedgems extreme 12T brushed motor? It has a 3/16" shaft.

Thanks, Chris

rebuilder 09-01-2009 06:47 PM

RE: Boat ID?

That will be a very high rpm shaft speed and direct drive......................it needs to be smaaaaaall. I think you may have a tough time finding a 3/16 prop that is small enough for your application. Your motor is about a 40,000 rpm motor...........................you may have problems, i hope not and wish you the best.;)

Maybe consider this one................. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...?prod=oct-x637 , Its the smallest 3/16 i can find. They make a 438 that is out of stock at offshore electrics.

RE: Boat ID?

I also have a 22t thrust master brushed motor, would that be a better motor to use with this and what props could I use for that?

Thanks, Chris

RE: Boat ID?

I hope another member gives their opinion here, because i really believe a 12t just wont work...................you will have much better results with a 22t. What exactly is a thrust master, i've never heard of it................is it a 550? 700?

TRXRUSTLER 09-01-2009 07:28 PM

RE: Boat ID?

Its a really old motor made by Great Planes. Its a 550 size motor.

rebuilder 09-01-2009 07:49 PM

RE: Boat ID?

It may not be real fast but it would be better than the 12t. I believe your XL-5 esc can handle 8 cells.......................it may run decent with 8 cells and a 22t. Im not sure of the kv rating on it. the big issue is weight..............you said it was light, right. Im still leanin toward the setup i mentioned above, who knows..................................

RE: Boat ID?

I am planning on going brushless but when I can get some money. I am just using this stuff because thats all I have.

rebuilder 09-01-2009 08:31 PM

RE: Boat ID?

Oh, i know, i am certainly not pickin at you, money gets tight for all of us[:'(].....................That would be a good goal, but for now the 22t with the XL-5 and 7 or 8 cells with the stock prop would be a good start!! Go run it that way and see how it does.:)

TRXRUSTLER 09-01-2009 08:40 PM

RE: Boat ID?

Ok but what prop should I buy if I am going to run the 22t?

rebuilder 09-01-2009 09:15 PM

RE: Boat ID?

I wouldnt "buy" any prop intil you see how the stock one works...........then you can go from there, based on the size of it. If i had to guess id say like an octura x435 - x445 ? somewhere in there possibly...............?

TRXRUSTLER 09-01-2009 09:23 PM

Thank you very much for your time and help, you helped me a lot.:D

Thanks, Chris

No problem.....................Keep us informed on your progress, i am very interested in how it goes!!!

TRXRUSTLER 09-01-2009 09:52 PM

RE: Boat ID?

I will, I am going to try to run it this weekend. Alls I need to do is install water cooling, get a battery connector, make a battery mount, get a prop(because I broke the stock one), and paint the boat.

Thanks, Chris

rebuilder 09-01-2009 09:59 PM

RE: Boat ID?

My bad.................i kept saying test it out with the stock prop due to the pics...........i didnt realize it was broken........hope you find a "test" prop.

TRXRUSTLER 09-02-2009 08:52 AM

RE: Boat ID?

I broke it shortly after I took the pics. I was hitting the shaft near the prop and I missed an I smashed one of the blades off the prop. So I am going to look for a different one. It had an Octura 1445 on it when I got it, I think I am going to buy the stock prop off the UL-1 (40mm) and see how that goes.

Thanks, Chris

RE: Boat ID?

Hi
I did finally slide the pic over. It's stock all right. A 550 motor will not line up with the prop shaft. Plus the coupler is made for the 5mm motor shaft of a 700. If you do use a 550 you will need to couple your 1/8" motor shaft up the 3/16" shaft that the boat is made for.
