Traxxas EVX 14.4 version - 1 motor

Is there any special prep needed to run one motor on the original EVX 14.4 ESC ? I'm doing a boat build and it is a single motor unit but I have an extra EVX laying around and was going to use it.

Is it essential to use 2 motors ?

Thanks !

I use a Traxxas EVX in 3 of my boats. They work great. All 3 boats are between 31" - 42", i run a single Graupner 700 8.4bb in each. I use lipos in one to reduce weight, in fact its the older orange 14.4v ESC i use the 2x 2s lipos with (14.8v it handles it fine).............i have a novak smartstop lipo cutoff connected to it. I dont know if its necessary but i connect both motor leads together pos/pos - neg/neg , for a cleaner look and i feel it may supply a little more amperage to the big 700's as well. I have 12v radio shack cooling fans intaking air thru a deck scoop and cooling them. One is a marine EVX so i just use the water cooling on that one. I love these setups, and the EVX has reverse to boot! I'll post some pics later tonite.

The new Traxxas Summit uses a single 700 motor and the EVX speed control. Notice the motor comes wired in parallel:

Thats basically what im doing, but im putting them in parallel just before the motor, on the esc wires.
