Help!

wats up guys , this is my first hobby grade r/c boat and theres a few issues.

the first is i think my esc needs programming , when i give it full throttle and hold it the boat will go about 1/8 throttle for about 1 or 2 seconds and then it will go full throttle...almost like a timing..

the 2nd is im not sure where to put my battery , front , moddle or rear?

the 3rd is someimes when i go to take off , apart from the 1st problem occuring it sometimes gargles up real bad like the prop isnt in the water , and the prop is adjusted as far down as it can go... it also does this when i try and turn at speed.[:@]

it also spins out real easy too but i think i needa turn my steering trim down , lol.

all this is nothing without info , its a brushless mini sea predator on 3s lipo , cattamaran style. , heres a pic , cheers lads ;)

RE: Help!

 - is the red wires on the motor/esc connected correctly
- are all connections connected properly
 - is the battery well charged
 - are the crystals on the same frequency
 - is the antenna looping over itself
 - is the antenna wire visible through the outer casing

on the transmitter, centre all trim buttons, switch it on and move to full throttle, connect the battery in the boat, when the prop spins release the throttle and turn everything of, then when you turn it on it should all be fine then

put the battery about half inch forward from the transom (back of the boat) and as close to the prop shaft as you can, you can mess around with balance of the batt when your on the water

to stop the boat spinning out, put a turn fin on the right side where the sponson is, this will help keep it stable

have the prop horizontal, if its pointing down the nose will dig in, if its pointing up, the nose will rise

post a picture of the transmitter you use

RE: Help!

when you post a new thread, be more descriptive in the subject than "help". Think about when you go to search for something in this thread in 4 months. Something like "sea preditor setup help"

RE: Help!

im using just the losi 27 mhz radio for now , ill be getting dx3r soon and ill use that, possibly get a venom 2.4 gig radio and reciever for only $80...

my batery is in the rear now and the assend sinks in...

water is coming in through my steering linkage , and theres silicone and grease on it , but it gets submerged...

ill reset it and make my prop sit as horizontal as possible and move my battery further to the rear if i can

cheers lads;)

EDIT.

something is stuffed...

when i hold the motor at a certain acc point it doesnt go smoothly it sort of goes in sections like its glitching...time for a new motor or esc i think , and when i did that procedure you tell me , if i hold it open and plug the battery in the motor does nothing , and the esc doesnt do the start up beeps anymore

RE: Help!

NO, move your battery further forward to the nose until the prop is just under the water, look on ebay for rc bellows, they stop the water getting in through the linkage, they do work

most people mount the bellows inside the hull but i mount them outside the hull

2.4gig rx only works with the same transmitter, if your getting a spektrum tx then you can only use spektrum rx, i think there all compatable with eachother but double check to be sure

RE: Help!

no worrys mate

i'd love to get hold of the 33" sea predator but the closest we got is a 16" sea predator, there cool boats and would go well with my mini boat fleet, i have 4 so far, mini catamaran, mini deep V, 2x mini hydroplanes and the mini predator would be a welcome addition, waiting for a couple of hulls and some minor parts to arriveand then i can start building again

i've done a how to modify a brushless motor thread on here if you wan to have a look and get some ideas, other people are putting suggestions on there so its not just my ideas, everyones welcome

Sounds like it has a 'soft-start' esc meant for an airplane. If so, it's supposed to do that.

RE: Help!

if it is a airplane esc, you can get a program card to change the soft start setting

turnigy, eagle wing and so on do some, i have one and it does help

first for me I see a hydro almost a rigger style boat with no turn fin?
second what batteries are you using?
third can you take a side picture of the boat so we can see the drive angle with the line of the boat?
