40MHz or 2.4GHz?
What's the best choice for a boat, 40MHz or 2.4GHz?
I still use 35MHz for my planes, mostly because most of them are full carbon. Regards Knut Ivar Skattebo Norway |
RE: 40MHz or 2.4GHz?
illegal to use 35mhz for boats, its usually 27, 40 and 75mhz
i use 2.4ghz in my boats as theres no crystals involved, turn up, set up and boat around if you have any CF inside the hull, the antenna will need to be outside the hull as the CF will cause interference, but 2.4ghz all the way |

you cant go wrong on 2.4 ghz. and its getting cheaper.
spektrum has a new radio out for 100 U.S. dollars. http://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/D...ProdID=SPM3160 clicky linky XD |
RE: 40MHz or 2.4GHz?
if you only have 1 boat then go with the spektrum dx5, dx3r or even the likes of futaba and jr do 2.4gig systems
i love spektrum because if have the dx3s (like darla, how are ya girl?) and with the sr3300t in my boat i can keep an eye temps, rpm's etc, they do the sensors for electric and nitro |
RE: 40MHz or 2.4GHz?
Yea, my 24" is all carbon, I just poke the antennae out and all is well. I am using a 4pk 2.4ghz system

Battery life 16-20hrs range,Had mine almost 1/4 mile out.Foolish to do but I do that sometimes.Barely seeing the boat and hold the steering in position to circle the pond.I have high powered binoculars to check the water and also walk around the pond to makesure its clean/clear.
