i just ordered one 4s battery from hobbyking and i was wondering if i could make my own little connector to use one battery will this work?

depends on what the connector's are for
is it to power 2 esc's ? you can make a parallel harness by soldering 2x black (negative terminal) and 2 red (positive terminl) one end and have the other ends wired red & black |

what esc are you talking about ? one battery will work do you have 2 x 2s cells that you normally use?

stock esc on supervee 27 and i had two 6cell nimh and i just got a 4s

if its only one 4s batt and 1 esc then you don't need any special connector just solder on some 5.5mm gold bullet connectors on the batt and esc

My guess is that you want to have a harness that you can plug in when you use the 4s pack and then remove it when you want to run two packs. If this is correct you just need a plug for the open pattery plug in your SV. This plug would have a wire that goes drectly from your positive to you negative on the open terminal. (just short across them to complete the circuit). You can just buy male deans connector at the LHS and solder a wire between connectors. When you use your 4S pack you plug it into one plug (I'd recomend the starbird side) and just plug the conector into the other plug. Now the only problem that you need to address is the weight balance issue. In the future I'd stick with 2, 2S packs for this reason. (but I'm sure the price was right)

if i were you i'd switch to bullets. I have a 2300 kv motor in mine and like to run it on 3s some times, i have 2 3s cells so i put both of them in there for balance but only use one of them, with that set up it is pretty close to stock speed, but when i really want to move i will use 2 x2s cells, all you have to do is put one negative bullet to a positive of the opposite battery and then the remaining positive and negative leads go to the esc, so now i can run my packs in series or just by them selves, no special harness required.

14.8 x1800 = 26,640 11.1 x 2300 = 25,530 which gives a difference of 1110 unloaded rpms, and since this is something i have tested in the real world i know that a 2300 kv motor with the stock esc on one 5000 mah 3s cell provides close to stock speed ( visual analysis only), or i series 2s x2 to get 4s. 14.8 x 2300 = 34,040 which isn't too much rpm's but is much faster then out of the box, it would be like running the stock motor on 5 s 18.5 x 1800 = 33,300. My point for this thread was that i can utilize a single 3s cell or 2 x 2s cells without the need for any additional connectors or a harness. Keep in mind that i used the nominal voltage for my calculations and a fully charged battery will supply more voltage then what it is rated at.

W the point is going lower higher kv with lower volts to get the same speeds will pull more amps lower kv motors with more volts will always run cooler and have loner runtimes and I do run my stock SV on 5s and that thing screams and I have decent runtimes with it ;) |

i'm trying to be nice but c'mon read my post verbatim and stop adding your own words, it says THIS thread not mine, yes running a lower kv on more voltage will give you a cooler running set up but 2300 kv is also the motor upgrade the engineer of this boat suggests. Glad your a having success running 5s i just blew my esc on my set up. ( 2300 kv turnigy motor, stock esc, and x437 sbp) but i also made 8 runs before that happened so i think something may have clogged my water pick up and i didn't catch it.
