Boat Chosing help
Hello,
This will be my 2nd RCboat that i am planning on buying, (first had some transmitter issues, it was a cheapie anyways). but on to the the point of this thread, i have poked around a bit and decided that this boatwould be good, however i can't seem to find it anywhere {if you can get me a link i'd be very grateful} . so i decided to look around a bit more. I found another boat that seemed to fit the criteria, which i like equally (except i wish it had the sealed electronicshttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../msn/71_71.gif) However, after much prowling, many redicoulous claims of speed and whatnot, and many boats that i liked that were waaaay too expensive, i decided to turn to the community for help. so without further chitchat, my criteria: Electric Larger than 15" Fairly low matinence RTR (or atleast mostly, i'n an idiot) Around 20< mph <$100 (without shipping) Decently reliable dealer to buy from Suggestions for a model? Thanks so much in advance, i'm eager to hear your answers! |
RE: Boat Chosing help
What was your first boat?
What do you expect from these "toy" type boats. The do about 5mph...[:@] |
RE: Boat Chosing help
If you intend to spend about $100 then you should buy something worth while:
[link=http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/products.php?cat=AquaCraft+Mini+Thunder+RTR]AQ Mini Thunder[/link] For $100 or less RTR or ARR your choices are VERY slim. You could also look at the HobbyKing stuff. Theres these two: [link=http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=12888&Product_Name=SeaRi der_Twin-Hull_R/C_Boat_%28420mm%29_RTR]SeaRider[/link] [link=http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=11889&Product_Name=Warri or_V-Hull_R/C_Boat_%28420mm%29_RTR]Warrior[/link] You can upgrade the mini thunder in time. Upgrading the HK boats might get a little creative. All depends on what kind of hull you want... HK sells the "Small Bolt" Hydro ready to go less battery and radio for $110... Its a steal of a deal... But for $100 you dont get much- at least anything really worth buying. |

Thanks- P.S. thanks for the reccomendations, ill check 'em out now! |
RE: Boat Chosing help
That may be...
The problem is those real cheap boats are just that. You would be better off saving up a little more to buy something worth your money. I know it sucks to hear that because you probably want that toy right now- but its the truth. If you are buying an RC boat then you should buy a brushless one. I started off with the mini rio. It was fun, but boring as its slow... Upgraded the stock motor to another brushed... faster yet still slow... Got a Delta Force 26 copy and now thats fast- speed need satisfied. |

Also, what is wrong with the others, i understand that they are not upgradeable but i've seen lots of good reviews for the 2nd one (NQDT-18) and it seems like it will really go 30 mph, do you know otherwise? |
