micro esc for motor
 

i got an 80 amp micro esc and bought it not knowing it was a micro one but its an 80 amp one and dont know if theres anything else that i need to know because i bought it for a speed 600 gruapner brushed motor, is this motor too big for a micro esc, [link]http://www.bidproduct.com/part/Product_view_BRUSHED%20ESC_1.html[/link]

Looks o.k., just crappy connectors that add to amps being pulled...

Hard wire the motor and use deans on the battery.

ok so i soldered deans onto it and im finding some black and red wire in my big box of rc stuff lol to hard wire the esc to the motor

I have ran a 600 size motor (graupner I believe) on a 50amp controller. If it'll do 80amps you should be fine no matter how big or small size wise it is.

A 600 size Graupner brush motor will most likelly melt its end bell with anything close to 80 amps (that would be very close to 600 W) and the upper limit on these 500/600 size motors is more like 200Watts.
It as been a long tradition for car esc manufacturer to claim amp capacity well beyond what their product can handle. Any kind of PWM type esc require substantial heat sink to carry full power[8D]

im not sure what the end bell is but i tried it out a second ago and smoke came from the esc and the esc stopped working and this was at 1/8 throttle

can anyone recomend an esc for a 600 size brushed motor i use a 6 cell 7.2 volt batt and would like it to be under 20 dollars

ESC for brushed motors are becoming very scarce! BPHobbies as some:

So you might have to deal with Bidproduct again or get a car type esc for 6/7 cells, they come very cheap used since everybody as moved to brushless power.
A blown esc with only a 6 cells pack might indicate a short in the armature,a stalled motor or bad connections. A less than $20 esc is kind of like a lottery because there is no Q.C. possible for that price
and you might have to buy many units to find a good one[:@] You might be able to get a better deal from a LHS or a local r/c car racing track, lot of peoples just trow away still fonctional car esc because
there is no use for them anymore. If your set-up is for a boat there is lot of brushless alternative for less money! My last brushed Graupner was a 480-BB I used in a 16"" mini hydro with 7 Kan cells(1100mA)
Paid almost $45 for it (2005)and it lasted for awhile, when I switched to my first 2 cells Lipo and a good jump in speed........The end-bell went Kapput. Replaced it with a cheap KDA 20X40 12-L($15)and cheap brushless esc and never looked back. That same hydro still run with 3 Lipo, same 5 years old motor ans a X427 prop. In the days of brushed motor I used to make my own esc using that design:

Worked very well up to 14 cells(ni-cad)and a hot Speed-700 turning a X445 prop, it actually costed more than $20 just in parts but I knew the exact rating of my components, was using up to 6 150W mosfets on a water cooled heat sink. Didn't bother with the bec for more than 7 cells use and had the mosfets mounted on a separate board from the control circuit.

What amperage esc should i get and does the turn count on the motor matter about buying an esc
