I would say for your first post add into what you said:

The x435 2 blade prop has been tested and works great on this boat with both a Nimh battery and a 2s lipo and can get the boat to speeds of 30mph.

The x435 3 blade prop has been known to fry ESC when running 2s Lipo as well, but was fine on NiMh battery

The X535 Prop works with NimH ONLY and has been known to fry ESC when running 2s Lipo

Why is the stock ESC Rated for 12.5v but Can't handle 3s lipo ? I was running 6s lipo on a stock Formula FAStech ESC without issue.

If it's rated at that voltage it should be good for 3s lipo my guess is they don't want you to run 3s in it because of the huge prop on it and it will draw way to much current and that's what will fry it.... probably would have to prop way down in size for a 3s run.

I got a Shockwave 26 brushless for my kid in June. Right away the prop fell apart. The customer service was good and sent a new prop to where we were vacationing (4 hours from a hobby store). Next the U-Joint broke apart. That was June and I just got the boat out again with the intent on fixing it up as we have had only 3 runs since getting it.

This is the issue, the customer service is intent on sending out a new U-joint but they are on back order. I see PRB3152 (U-joint and drive shaft) is out of stock at most hobby stores that I could see.

What I wonder is if this is a weak link in the boat. I have seen the thread on replacing the whole drive unit but since this is just for my kid, I didn't want to spend the additional $80+ for that upgrade.

I did find a 3mm to 3mm U-joint and a 3.1mm (1/8" ) U-joint at "funrcboats" and also a 4mm U-joint. I may get all 3 and see which works best. The only issue with the 3mm one is that it looks not as robust as the other two. The 4mm one can easily fit with some 3mmid x 4mm od tubing as a shim. The 1/8" one may wobble.

I have the octura prop already.

Wonder if anyone else has a bad U-joint.

I just fired-up the boat for the first time today. I'm getting SERIOUS interference with the receiver. When I'm standing next to the boat, everything works fine. It gets 10 feet away, the steering starts jittering and the throttle does not respond at all to my input - it just does short blips, almost like the steering servo is doing. Completely unusable.

I'm running two 3s LiPo's. 5000mAh, 11.1V, 40C packs from my offroad buggies. I reprogrammed the ESC right out of the box with the accessory programming module.

Tomorrow, I'm going to try two 7-cell NiMH packs with stock programming to see if anything changes, but it won't make any sense to me why it wouldn't work with what I had in there today. If it was just a throttle issue, I could assume the ESC didn't like the big LiPo's. But since the steering is wacky too, it leads me to believe my battery types have nothing to do with it. Looks to me like a bad receiver right from the factory. Which would PISS me off since I bought the boat JUST for vacation at the beach this week.

Any thoughts gentlemen?

Just a followup here.

The 3mm u-joint from Funboats was on back order also! However, strange as it may seem, I was able to obtain a U-joint with a 3mm hole. It was in a box of old stuff at the local hobby store. It is packaged as "MIDWEST PRODUCTRS Boat Running Hardware Kit #835" but the part is imprinted in small letters with "Graupner" Looks like this (http://www.graupner.de/en/products/1...8/product.aspx)

We ran it for the first time today and it did not fly apart. In fact I think this is the first time we ran the boat for a whole battery charge without something breaking.

I balanced the Octura prop and it performed very well. It was an x435 and I just happened to have it in a box of my own spare parts.

ic-racer also if you are running the stock motor on 3s the X435 is way to big of a prop i think you need a smaller one or things will run very hot. i have a boat running 3s with a 3000KV motor and i have to run smaller prop sizes on it.

Yes that the same one. 1/8" is close enough to 3mm for a reasonable fit.
I just checked back at funrcboats and see they still have that on backorder but now I see a metal one from Proboat that may work better than the plastic:

That's like the stock one?

If you are breaking the stock metal one then i would go with the graupner plastic one it looks much stronger.

I wanna use 3s lipo on shockwave 26 bl but i dont wanna spend over 85 bucks. Any of you know cheap esc that can handle a 5800 mah 3s turnigy lipo?

you can find a 60amp esc at hobbycity for about 50bucks
