Default Stupid Paint chip

Got a zippkits illusion 2 weeks ago. While taking it out of the truck yesterday I hit the edge of it on the tailgate which left a divot in the paint/gel coat. Pissed me off to say the least. I hate fibeglassing and painting. It's not huge, about 1/4 inch down to the wood. Any easy fixes?

Is it paint or gelcoat?,if gelcoat its easy enough to fix just get some gelcoat the same colour and fill the divot and wet sand flush once dry, then use some buffing compound to bring it back to a nice shine.Theres also an easy how to on whhobies site in the video section that will help.

If it's just a small chip and you want to Seal the wood back up you can put a Dab of epoxy in it with a toothpick. You can also find some Fingernail polish that's close to your color and put a Dab of that in it instead. Just make sure you Clean the area Real Good First. It's NOT the Best fix but it will work.

There shouldn't be any gel-coat on a wood hull as that's a Zippkits boat.
Don't worry about it, it gives the boat character. You can always say "You oughta see the others guys boat!".

I've been using some hobby shop filler as the normal commercial stuff is a lot harder to work with. I have some that comes in a model glue type of tube. It's easy to work with and dries quickly.

I believe it's gelcoat. I was told it was painted at a body shop. And I do believe it is a raw wood kit. Not much into building, so I'm nit sure. I appreciate the help. I would seal it and throw a decal over it, but it's on the edge. I should of slowed down and been more careful, but I was excited to get it in the water for the first run since buying it. Stupid me.

If the chip is on the actual hull side then its most likeley paint like Ron said, if its the cowl then it will probably be gelcoat.A pic would help us to help you .

I tried the sealer and then I'm gonna try to dab a drop of paint. The closes color match I can find. Looking at it again, it's smaller then I thought it was, since last night was the last I saw it. So this might work. I'll post the results when I'm finished. I know its a minor thing, but it bothers me since the rest of the boat is practically flawless.

Put a decal over it and do not worry about it because there are more chips and scratches to come. LOL

Hey Zen3,
Jason Niemier of River City Graphics here. I will be happy to design you two mirror decals one for each hull side of anything you want tribal, flames or a cool sponsor logo. Being on both sides it will not look so much like a band-aid fix. This is what we do RC graphics this one is no charge totally FREE just glad to help a guy out in our hobby. Keep them boats looking good.

I'm with the rest, makeup like all ladies do. They are a big hull. you'll get more if you run with others. If the wood is exposed You may need some filler. Microbaloons /epoxy mix can be used to fill all deep wounds. Then re-sand and repaint. Like everyone pics please. Mailing the hull is big $$$$

You can also color the epoxy with a little matching paint.....Just mix it in when mixing.
