Sure you can its all i ever use,mix it with some milled fibres or preferably chopped strands of glass, spread it on and sandwich the wood to the transom and clamp, then sit boat on its transome so everything stays where it should.Ive yet to have any problems with a polyester boat,if done right theyre plenty strong ask my customers lol.Or you could also use a mix of glass cloth coremat and some carbon cloth, heres one i did earlier just using biaxial cloth coremat and uni direction carbon no wood needed, transom was then 1/4" thick and strong as hell.

You can use polyester resin as long as hull is not epoxy resin as it wont bond well

Thanks guys, i think the mhz hulls are worked with epoxy so will avoid the poly. I have a pattex power epoxy bicomponent, (pic) can it work? or better to use epoxy directly with strands of glass, as Mart said.

You can just use glass cloth and carbon, build layers up and you will be fine no need for wood but you must use slow set epoxy resin not the quick set glue.If you want to use wood then that glue may work fine,im asuming its just for you to mount your harware to?.
