72" scale mono "stirling" build log
Hi, I hope this is of interest to you, this will be a build log of a Bananshark Stirling 34.
The Stirling was designed primarily as an offshore endurance racer. the only change to the model is the hull design, going with the original designers hull (less aggressive steps and less strakes) rather than the builders design (close to a v24).
kind regards James

Looks similar to another hull a few post below yours thats being built by F1madness only his is smaller. Nice looking hull though. Banana Sharks are good boats.

you're right! however this is an official model, direct from the designer and Bananashark.
firstly we adjusted the boat to have an enclosed canopy (for rc use)
then the three parts were disassembled and had flanges and locator tabs added for moulding purposes.

This is what the plugs look like before final cutting. what you see here is a stiff plywood base frame which has been laminated with epoxy so it cant twist or warp, this then has a medium desity foam block which is rough cut then covered in a dense epoxy tooling paste (almost like body filler but a lot harder).
you can see the deck in the far right has been cut.

no idea mate...... at my leisure at the moment..
here is the hull tool, using marbocote release agents, i have pulled two parts and cut them up. this is done to bed the mould in, cutting them up avoids the design/ parts falling into unwanted hands.
