Default Chung Yang compared to Zenoah ?

How much better is either one ? Has anyone used both ? What if any short comings ?

Who sells Chung Yang in the USA ?

Thank you
Rich

Dave's Motors has them and parts http://www.davesmotors.com/Search-Page/?search=Chung Yang
If you buy a marine version go with the 4 bolt 27cc as the 2 bolt had problems with the base of the cylinder warping. The early versions had a flaking issue on the chroming of the cylinder wall.I had the 26cc and the 27cc and had no issues.I 'd buy a Zenoah over the Chung Yang.

Zenoah is a Japanese Company, part of Komatsu. They build quality...........My G-23 (gutless) ran well and never failed me. My G-38 was a nice engine that ran well always.
Chun Yang????????? Chinese Clone engine??????????

Cost over quality?

I saw the new Zenoah.. Rev-Unlimited for under & 100. The weight of the boat will be under 8# RTR. Add in a engine bracket or 2. Are those set up for SAE 1/4 shafts ? I use Octura parts in the past on my large scale boats with great results.

What style & prop # of Octura would be good for sport Submerged / surfaced running ? Considering no one has driving experience. Is either type more controllable ?

Thanks for the help everyone.
Final top center skins on all the boats Monday. So it is buying time. I Have left plenty of access to install / change to a large turn fin.

Fuel tank make & model for the Roger Newton hull. Space between the stringers is 4".
Have precision ground SS shafting.
Have sealed SS needle bearings. Might bite the bullet & go will a super low friction plastic like Rulon
Will make all the rudders, shafts, & arms, out of brass.
Have big servos.

Forgot the most important thing. Where should the COG ? COB be from the sponson step edge ?

Sort of... Zenoah is a Japanese company that is part of the Husqvarna group (Sweden) since 2007.

If you only have 4" between the stringers, for an engine to sit ,I think you have a problem already. I believe the Newton plans were made for nitro engines, thus the 4" between the engine rails. You should have 5" between them for a gasoline engine.
Which Newton hull is your's from ? Maybe someone else built the same one and can help you with a proper setup, with COG and hardware. You don't want to put it in the water for the first time and have the front end do a submarine thing,DIVE,DIVE
Octura hardware is old school and they haven't changed things for more modern, fast boats.Zippkits has what you need and probably at a better price. www.zippkits.com
Those seniors will get bored with a slow boat pretty quick.I know because I,m a senior and I like fast.

I can " cut out " & expand the space between the stringers for engine clearance.. Piece of cake modification.
