Default Tiger King S27 source coil

Hi all,
I'm normally good at sorting problems but this has be stumped. My Tiger King S27 boat engine keeps destroying the source coil.
Last weekend I fitted a new one setting the air gap to a business card thickness, started the engine which ran for about 30 seconds then stalled.
The spark plug is brand new as is the HT coil so yet again another source coil has failed. The crank bearings are fine plus I have removed the engine kill switch too.

The magnets in the flywheel are still strong so what can it be although I found a post yesterday where someone had no spark on a Zenoah marine engine after replacing source coil, HT coil and spark plug so replaced the ignition rotor / flywheel and all was good again which seems strange as what can really go wrong with a flywheel?

This problem has been discussed here:

Seems you need to raise the coil as far as it can go.
