Default G260PUM partial rebuild question

Hello,

I have removed the 'old' PUM Watercooled cylinder from the engine/piston and have a OEM replacement. The piston slid out without a problem from the old one, but I cannot seem to get the piston into the new one - is there a trick? I know the ring has to compress to fit but even still it will not slide into the housing. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Did you have the ends of the ring lined up with the pin in the ring groove? Doug

As Doug said make sure you have the notched ends of the ring at the locating pin when you compress the ring and that area facing the intake port . Squeeze and wiggle .

If you are replacing the jug, replace the piston ring while you're at it.
