Hi all,

I want to sometime in the future get a 60" or larger boat to use up to camp. Does need to be to fast, and i would like twins just because i think it would be fun. Sort of like what IRAW50 has. A cigarette type boat.

What is a good hull that will work for this aplication, and motors. I'm not looking to spend mega bucks, just something for me, my dad, and my son to play with. I have an Enforcer, and that is the best money i ever spend, but my dad really likes it, so i thought maybe i would look for something else, to run against him.

I sure would appreciate any help!

Thanks
Glen

Doesn't need to turn fast, but where we are on the lake, its ruff during the day, titaniced my Enforcer twice now, so some thing bigger is in the works, doens't have to be twins, but thought it would be fun.

NoMoa .....

The twin rig like IRAW50 has is a GREAT offshore boat! I have driven one, and they will actually take 2 ft. waves and some occasional 3 foot swells in stride. or rasing a little hell around a few bouys, it would not be much fun, and it won't really be twice as fast as a single engine setup, as you might think, really only 25 to 30 % faster, as it weighs a TON!!!! (23 lbs. as I recollect) .

BUT, you need some really deep pockets to put one together unless you get lucky and find a used one that someone is trying to dump for cheap $$ ... you need TWO similar engines, TWO similar drive setups with TWO EACH of a few sizes of props, TWO rudders, TWO water pumps TWO fuel tanks. To make matters worse, the design requires a special order hull with heavier than normal glass layup AND with 10 in. stringer spacing to get the engines and tanks between.

My recommendation would be, and I've been there ... done that, would be to get another boat similar to the one you have, paint it up to be a bit more sexy, and then the "Great Race" between you and your father (or whoever) will be a "drivers race", not a "who's got the fastest boat" race. When the first guy to miss a buoy has to either go back for it, or be docked a whole lap, the men get separeted from the boys real quick!! [>:]

I also recommend a course with at least three buoys at each end, so you have a total of six buoys to miss on each lap (Snicker, Snicker).

Well, my two cents, anyway,

Russ

ya i guess your right Russ, thanks,I'm not a speed freak, just a "holy crap where did he find that" type of person. i'm going to see what i can find around. I guess if i find a used boat with twins, that will be fine. i'll keep watchin e-bay for a 57 Magnum from Warehouse Hobbies.

Thanks for the help

Hey RCNUTMAN ,
Nice design on the decals ... but may I ask why the difference in colors ? ( just curious , and not knocking anything ... )
Like the gator ... kinda looks like the one MACCA uses for his sig on the DOCK .

Hello Everyone,

My name is Horace Cormier Jr. I'm not new to RC Modeling, I've been in the hobby for about 18 years. I have a collection 1/10th, 1/8th, 1/5th and 1/6th scale cars, trucks and buggies. I always wanted a boat so, for a Christmas present to myself I ordered a 55" Manta Ray from WHH, EZ25 (260PUM) SPDIII drive system with dual rudders and wet pipe. The boat looks awesome, I ordered the American Patriot scheme decals. I've polished the rudders and anodiazed the rest of the drive system. The only thing left to do is installed the radio system. When it's all done I'll post some Pics. I'm looking forward for the day I fire her up!!!.
