I have buildt many speed boats, mostly in Gas.I haved buildt an ran Nitro as for engines as Picco's 80's and CMB- 90's.Square Head designes.I buildt a speed boat that i traded to my brother for aHP computer the one that i am now on.My last boat was a 42" by 11' Deep Vee.Bought it in 1978.It had many diferent engines in it.But now it has a Zenoah 260 PUM full modified. With a Quick Draw hydro pipe inside.Painted the boat in Candy apple Red over silver metal flake.
It ran about 40 miles per hour a little skiddist at time.Excellant FULL WHEELEes.Somewhere in all this i could show you some of my boats .Just working on a turbo-Charger and a electric on board starting system at this time. For most Gas engines on the market.Take Care, Dan

I know the topic of the thread is 'Gas Boats' but I'm including a few that have graced the shelves within the last year.
This is one that I put together earlier this year.
Ran it two times and sold after a guy just had to have it.
MHZ Gecko
Don't be fooled by the size......... they're FAST and stable as a rock.
Speed 400 and 8 cells.
Wish I'd never sold it.

Traaxas Blast aka Tow Pig
Fun boat. Okay for a beginner. Put 8 2/3a cells, change to a three bladed prop and it runs like a scalded cat. On the normal 6 cells, its alright but nothing spectacular.
Still have it. If it was a full scale, it'd be called the Trailer Queen because it sits on the shelf more than anything.

Just sold this one also.
Don't care for nitro after falling in love with gas. Actually it was acquired as sort of a trade off. Never ran it after changing from submerged to surface drive.
Prather A' boat w/3.5 K&B Exhaust throttle.
Spent a lot of time getting it to the point it in the photos. The transome looked like Swiss cheese and remained that way, but after a little filling and paint it would be a nice boat.
Someone got a good deal.

Current ride
Its gone through a lot of changes since acquiring it new.
Engine is an aircooled RC230. Great power stock and has seen 39 mph stock.
Changes:
WHH wet tuned exhaust.... too loud
Numerous props
Until last week, it had a Cooper Quiet Pipe. Looks funny but effective. Boat doesn't list like you'd think either from the pipe coming off the left side. Sounds much better over the 'can' exhaust. Best speed low 40's with that set up.
& quite a few graphics have been applied and removed
I love this boat so much, that I bought another one. If you look in the classifieds, you'll see the yellow Super G RTR, thats it.

Current changes underway.
Installing a new 260PUM. Don't know how much it'll help in speed, but it's only to serve as a break in hull till I decide what hull to buy next.
I'm guessing a new Cat.

Just bought this antique.
Dont' know the name of the boat... looks to be home-made, but its got classic lines and well built. Its only for cruising the local rivers at idle speed. Picked up a little engine off of ebay for a steal to power it. Like I said, its only for looks and to get us out a little more till we get stateside. Should make for a fun day of running the r/c boats when we take them along.
The engine is an '83 thats been babied. Runs like a champ at least in the test tank. lol.
It'll be getting a full bimini top and new seating arrangements. (pardon the poor photo quality for the camera was on the wrong setting)
Other areas of this sport is polishing out the props I run. Nothing like a shiny stainless prop to compliment your boat.
Here's a recently completed P275. Got another one and just finished up the buffing on a 280. Lots of work but it keeps me out of trouble.

(2) 275's & a 280

I have a Expresscraft Osprey with a WHH Zenoah -- watercooled head -- canister exhaust --

It's not the fastest (YET--LOL) but it sure looks good.

I've seen your boat before and have to say its got one of the best looking paint jobs I've seen on the American side of the pond.
Got to ask; Why the 'can' exhaust?
Such a beutiful boat should be complimented with a nice quiet system.

I've painted two other bikes for friends of mine in the last few years. Ive got three set up to do this winter. but they arent as involved as mine was. just the tanks and fenders (not ground up like mine was. the real problem is I don't charge my friends for the labor. the deal is that they buy twice the paint and supplys for the job (whatever colors they want, always basecoat/clearcoat) then it keeps me in a good supply to do my boats and such. and keeps me in practice. but it is TONS of work to get a flawless finish. (and I'm totally self taught) but the rewards are worth it. Oh and by the way all my bikes get Ghost flames!

Like your style brother.
If you like fast fullscale outboard boats, then you'll love ScreamandFly.com.
Check out this article on Randy Corson's boat. This guy is a self taught guru like yourself. Scroll down a little and peek at the photos.

IRAW50:
Your "antique" is a 60 In. Aeromarine "Apache" hull, Aeromarine radio box, 2 - Zenoa G-23 (23CC) engines, clutch assemblies, muffler, flex drives and outboard running gear were all made by Scale Model Engineering, thus the "SME".
It's not particularly fast, good for about 30 to 35 MPH, but an AWESOME performer in 2 foot waves as it weighs a ton. Keep in mind that it is (approximately) a 1/6 th scale model of a Cigarette or Donzi type offshore racer that run at around 100 to 110 MPH in real life. So, if you like scale, the model at 30 MPH X 6 = 180 SCALE MPH!!! ..... Plenty fast enough.
I have a couple of those hulls if you know of anyone interested.
My thoughts,
Russ

Guys,
The wifes Christmas present came in yesterday (the yellow one).
If one is good, then two isn't that bad. WHH builds a good boat. Not the fastest out there, but a good quality boat that I like so much that I figured two would be nice. Got a good deal on it too. Used RTR. Fired up the engine this morning and checked everything out. Good transaction.
The white boat is still in the process of getting a new 260 installed when the time is available.
