my 1st gasser a J&G 25.6 w/ QD pipe. 48" unknown V-hull (nice).
my question's
1. is the J&G 25.6 a modified G23 ?
2. is it recommended to run a clutch with tuned pipe as long as i run high stall springs ? or will it not like to stay running cause of the pipe ?
3. should a water pump be installed to run a clutch ?
4. what fuel mixture is recommended ?
thanks in advance jason

the older J&G's had a pum conversion which are no longer made. the J&G's now are all billet engines.
if you race dont run the clutch and if a clutch is used a water pump is a must have item.
the engine will idle just fine with a pipe.
run regular 87octane gas with a 20 to 24 to 1 mix which is 6 to 8 oz per gallon

exellent .... thank you for the reply .
i have heard alot of different mix ratio's, however, and i am really confused in that area on which to go with. there's your request of 20-24:1 then i've heard of 100:1 synthetic mix and everything in between.
does anyone know the exact recommendation of them manufacturer?
and what is "PUM" conversion ? is it a G23 ?

hey thanx again for the quick response fastrat..
here's another one for ya
at high speed the hull begins to wobble back and forth. it has wide trim tabs on it and i lowered them both a little and it helped. i was thinking maybe i should only lower the outside of each one to reduce drag or would that cause other problems ?

Hoky smoke bullwinkle that prop is huge............... the problem you have now is whats called chine walk.
it results from torque actin on the hull get a 67 to 70mm three blade and alot of that will go away

Hey Little Brother (Dahoppa),
Being stuck at home almost 24/7 with all these kids, I have been doing some research for you about your boat. Having seen your boat run I can tell you it definetly "chine walks". Most of the reason for that is due to the amount of boat "in the water". The next trip to the pond I will come down and help out, we'll see if we can get more bow out of the water, then re-adjust the trim tabs if need be. Also the the Prather 275 should be fine with a bit of work, I can do a few tricks to it for you.
