Default Sick Enforcer SS

i'm sure i'm missing something but, last fall my enforcer went for a tumble at the lake, it was under for about 3 minutes before i got to it. I did as i have done with other 2 strokes, and flushed it out, dried the radio box, put some marine fogging oil in it, and ran it several times {in a tub of clean water} before i fogged it and put it away. now this weekend i put it in the water, and it fired right up, took a few to get it to idle. Once it warmed up it idled nice, but its a bit doggy, takes quite a bit to get to full power and i noticed that the clutch was acting funny. I talked to Tony at WHobbies {last fall}and he told me what i needed to do, but never mentioned the clutch. Could i have clutch issues? Or might it be just the first run of the season. Also should i dismantle the carb and try to see if it has any crap in it?

I'm going to run it again this weekend, just didn't know if anyone could give me any ideas on what to try.

Thanks
Glen

Not quite sure what doggy means. Is something binding from getting rust or is the motor not getting enough fuel due to carb clogging. The things to check for: did the clutch get rusty during the lay up? Not sure what WHH clutch is made of, but if its metal to metal, you may have some rust on the drum and shoe. Did you remove the drive cable during lay up, or left in shaft and got rusty? Unlikely but check it. Turn the prop and cable with your hand and see if it spins relatively free. If not, and seems to bind, check the cable and the clutch. The clutch should have a sealed bearring, but if water got in it, it may have rust problems. Remove the spark plug and see how easy it is to spin the motor over or is it binding.

If you can eliminate mechanical problems then look for fuel delivery or water in fuel problems. Taking the carb apart is not a big deal. Carefully take it apart to just where you can examine the inside and look for debris or residue. Remove the set screws and blow compressed air or carb cleaner through the passages, but take the gaskets and put them aside first. Check the little screen for clogging.

Lastly, which I hope is not the case, you may have warped the cylinder when it suddenly got immersed. If so, SIKK and Superior have replacement cylinders, 23cc, 27,,and even big bore kits to 29cc that will fit the Enforcer motor, and are realtively inexpensive. Around $60 for the whole kit and not that hard to change. The 29cc is more, as it entails changing the crank. I purchased one for $115 recently.

Good luck.

Didn't think those hulls flip. What were you doing?

Thanks, i think from talking to some other people that you may be onto something also, the shaft might be binding, i didn't pull it out, never thought about it, i was more worried about the motor and electronics. I'm going to start there. Also, i think there must be some crap in the carb as you said.

As for flipping, i wish my wife had been videoing it, it was the coolest thing, gust-o-wind and flipped completely over, tagged the nose, and sunk to about the windshield. Smooth and fairly calm, but i guess i caught the gust just right.

Thanks for the tips, does that 29cc make a big diff? i would like more speed in the future, might be something for me to look at.

I know what you mean about recoding the event on camera. I have several boats and I was trying various trims on my 60" cat to see what gives me the fastest speed. With my 260, mild mod in exhaust timing and increased comp. my best so far is 43 mph with gps. I gave it too much negative trim to raise the bow and lift the boat, and got it going fast, but flipped it. With in 20 min, got it going again and same thing. I had to look at the pictures to figure out that my bow was too high and on sudden acceleration, it did a "wheelie" and continued to accelerate to the point of flipping.

The 29cc is a 27cc cylinder with a 2mm stoker crank. That will give me buku torque, but not rpm. The SIKK motors have a lot of torque so there is room to sacrifice on the low end and gain more rpm. With the Zenoahs, you somewhat sacrifice torque for the high rpms, but that is what racers want as they run wot. I just like to play and 48-50 mph amongst my three boats is fine with me.

I have not tried the 29cc yet, but will probably put it in the 57'' Apache that currently has a 27cc SIKK, and runs at 35mph and barely stay in the water at that speed. May have to add weight to the nose. At full throttle, I can turn her in a 16' radius. I like to start her in a small circle, slow speed and keep adding speed to near wot. Looks cool as heck and just keeps digging a hole.
