Here are some photos of some hopups I have done so far on my BlackJack55
Was not easy getting the Zero Drag seals in. And nether was the Walbro 257 Big Bore Carb. The throttle lever is totally different. I had to rig one my self. The drag seals were just tarring the engine completely apart. I had to run the auto shop to get the bolts for my pulley system, to get the flywheel off. I had to cut ¼†off the header bolts to get the cooling head on. Took me all day. Ill get her out tomorrow for tuning.

Need better handling, lower the rudders on the Blackjack55
Buy lowering the rudders just to the bottom holes in hull, for the top holes on the ruder brackets; you gain .8†or 21mm ruder in the water. I tested it for about 4 laps and it hooked much better, no sliding the turns. I only did 4 laps because I need to add those holes and screws at the bottom. But it worked.
To lower the rudders on the Blackjack55
You need a quantity of 4, 5-8 hex stainless screws, washers and bolts. Not shown in picture.
Drill 4, 5mm holes in hull, for the lower holes on the ruder bracket’s, replace 4, 5-8 hex stainless screws back in top holes no longer in use. This is to keep water from coming in hull. You can always fill the holes and paint as well.
Use the 4, 5-8 hex stainless screws, washers and bolts. In the new lower holes. I use thread sealant from auto shops for sealing the threads.

I think it would put the prop to deep in the water. You want it right at the surface of the water. I’m running a 270 right now that is too small. I have a 275 coming from Twistedliquid. Ill have plenty of prop in the water.
Speaking of Props.
My question to other boaters out there running large CAT hulls.
How does a 3 blade prop do on cats and what would be a good size to look into for this type of boat. I here you get better lift and better cornering. Is this true?

Your SW55 comes with a 270. You might want to look into a 275. This seems to be the prop that Twistedliquid is selling for the SW55. 275 would be a prather prop. I'm not shure on the Octura props what the equil size would be.

Well I'm in Suriname South America and just got a Blackjack 55 from our local RC dealer
The boats looks nice and huge and draws a lot of attention when runing
Cons:
- It does not go ready to run out of the box, u need to do a lot of tunning before u get a good running boot
- The clutch housings sucks and i got a bad bearing after the first run, the baering at the clutch is a cheap china bearing and i replaced that with a better one, at pulling out the baering the clutch housing cracked, so we needed to weld the the housing also and balanced it
- We needed to remove the carb from the box because it did not ran well, we cleaned it and after that it was OK,
- the fuel outlet on the fuel thank where clog with new plastic so we drilled it open to free the way for the fuel
- The copper prop also got balanced and polished
- The radio box is not 100% water tight i used clear silicone to extra seal it
- The vacume flow back from the carb manifold to the waterpump lets gasoline fumes come into the water pump
The problem that u get is that the vacum membrane in the pump is not gasoline proof, it disolves after a while and need to replace that
Pros:
- after all these mods we got a nice running boot with a lot of attention drawn , because of its sice
- With the standard prop 270 prather we GPS run at 37.2 Mph which was very nice
- With a 275 prather stainless steel prop we Got 37.5 Mph out of the boat as with the same prop a colleage rc got 42Mph out of his Shockwave 55 deep Vee
- All with all if the BJ55 is tuned right is enjoying it after full fueled up the hole afternoon at the pont
Personally i like My black jack 55
My second boat (first) is the Nitro Thundercat 31 catamaran with a prather 220 prop which runs great also
So guys who have a BJ55 or want to purchase one
Its not so BAD after ALl

Thank you for the post. I was wondering what the Max MPH was on a Stock BJ55. I was out with mine this weekend breaking in a New Bonzi Mild Modded engine. After 4 tanks of fuel I hit 43 with an Outura X670 prop. I changed to a Octura X472, and she gained a little Gps'd at 44.5 mph. I am sure with a few more tanks through her, and a little fine tuning on the running gear I can break 45. only time will tell.

Wow 44 something Mph sounds very good for your BJ 55 but how many mods are needed on the stock zenoah engine to reach that and is your engine dino'd at certain HP please tell
I want to reach 40 plus Mph because with a standard Shockwave 55 deepvee they outrun me with the BJ 55

Hi, I installed a clutchless adaptor in the BJ. Testing it, I find my water pump is not pumping water from a bucket while the boat is on a stand. I did raise the idle to compensate for prop load with no clutch, but I would figure it should still pump water. Anyone had waterpump issues yet? Remy stated fumes may cause failure? If I were to remove the pump and run lines straight to the head and exhaust manifold, what would I do for the fitting by the carb?

remyredjo,
My engine is a Bonzi BZ - 1, the mods are $50.00 to an existing engine. Check out www.bonzisports.com. They are Great people to deal with. Mine turns right around 16, 200 RPM.....the engine builder says that is right for maximum HP output, right around 4.5 hp at those RPMs. My speeds came from Strut adjustments and swapping props as well.3
cobra525,
With a clutchless adapter I would remove the water pump completely, run direct feeds to the head and pipe, replace the carb block with a new one that does not have the comperssion fitting in it. There is a guy at our local lake that just closed his off with a piece of tubing and a screw to cap the end. I would not do this, but it works for him. He runs the Lumar and Elam 1/8 hydros.

Thanks man, Thats what I figured and did. I will pick up one of those anodized carb blocks they look nice. For now tested it with the old hose and a screw trick. ran like a champ.
Now I see my header and pipe connection leak to the point that the water spout doesnt blow out water, it just drips inside the hull. I turned it and pushed it in all it goes but still get water coming out. I was pondering to not cool the pipe, and just run water to the exhaust cooling jacket then straight out the spout? You think it would fry? Most pipes dont even have a cooling option.

Most pipes are air cooled. there are 2 rubber O rings in the pipe that are SUPPOSE to seal it.....mine leaks as well. Removing the water cooling would most surely melt those rings. I am toying with replacingthe pipe with an adjustable one. reccommeded pipe lenght is betewwn 12.5 and 13.5 inches....the stcok pipe is set at 13.
