Hi,
I just had a chance to try out A.M.'s new rudders they are awsome no problems. I also a new prop from Dasboota. It's like driving a different boat, no signs of roll but on high g turns it may spin out in a 20 ft. diameter circle. Thanks aagain for the info

I bought a blackjack 55 just over a month ago and I can definitely say it is the worst product of any kind I have ever owned. I have bought things from garage sales that work better than this boat. The clutch loosened after one tank and then detonated after the second. I sent it into horizon who assured me it would take 7-10 days to be replaced. After multiple emails and 2 phone calls over a 3.5 week period I called them again to see if my replacement clutch had been sent out only to now hear that it has been on backorder for over 3 monthes. Either they lied to me over the past three weeks or their company has no communication to the customer service reps who claimed that all replacements take seven to ten days. I then purchased a clutchless adapter from whobbies and it somehow was stripped by the 1/4 cable after about twenty feet. Not a huge deal, I was able to put in two set screws and I'm on my way again. No. Now the opposite end of the cable where the prop is attached became unsoldered. I have had this boat for 5 weeks and have made it through almost 2 tanks of gas. Customer service is horrible and untimely, there are no aftermarket clutch parts that will fit because of clearance issues, and to top it all off this was for a University research project and I can't keep the boat running because it always falls apart. The only parts on this boat that work are the ones made by other manufacturers such as the engine and radio gear. Even if my boat is a lemon, horizon hobby does not seem to care too much about it or myself. I have since machined some new engine mounts to move the engine back for clearance to fit a longer aftermarket clutch and am waiting for the cable to be fixed by another machinist in shop. I will then wait for the hull to deteriorate which will probably happen on my next run.

well i just purchased one of these after being infatuated with it for over 2 mo. i am sure you just got a lemon , but maybe they should look at some componet issues. if i have any trouble with mine it is going back to them that is for sure. the shop where i bought it told me that they would stand behind it fully and ship it back for me. i told them what i read here and wanted to be sure that it would be taken care of in the evet that i had major problems with it. just my 2 cents.

there are a couple of things with those.And the clutch loosening up and detonating is one. I would just take it off or get another brandclutch. I would take it off as you will get a little more speed!. that boat is what it is. It's not a fullblown raceboat but a (fun) boat that will do 50+mph and take some goodwater! there are always problems with boats, Rtr's even from other companies. I would check all bolts and use loctitte.

Please help...I bought a Blackjack 55 recently and it overheats. My water pump runs fine at idle or low speed, but stops pumping completely at middle and high speed. Whats up with that???[:@]

to be honest it's cool to have clutch which you should use a waterpump(keeps the motor cool while idling). But I would take all that crap off for weight and less stuff to go wrong. it happens all the time with waterpumps probably something inside the pump. But check your waterpickup to see if it's clogged? check all your water lines coming in and going out of the pump. the pump itself is probably going bad. which you'll need to replace, their pretty cheap. I wouldn't buy one used just so that it could break at any time?

p.s be very carefull not to overheat the motor! if you wan't to run the boat and can't wait for a new pump [:@]just get something to fill the gaps for where the pump is supposed to be or if you have spare tubbing run new tubbing. That way you can still run your boat just don,t let it sit at a idle too long(what the pump is for)and let the motor get too hot. That is also a way to check if there is other problems besides the pump. if it does the same thing it's mostlikely not the pump and somethingelse?


and if your boat still has a warranty then you'll get a new pump. In theory anyways?

I'd just bypass the pump and block off the vacuum line but don't putt around with it afterwards. You might be losing vacuum pressure at higher RPM.
To show how old I am, I had an old Rambler American that had a vacuum-operated windshield wiper system on it. At high speeds it was difficult to get them to work. Yeah, the car was a piece of crap.

can anyone here recomend a prop for my miss lumar and my blackjack. i like speed and donot have any clue what prop to use on the big stuff. also is it ok to leave the clutch intact "well anyway a aftermarket one" from oneill bros. and not use the dumb waterpump? i have also heard about shortning a line on the boat that helps make more power. i think it was for pipe pressure? do not remember. thanks alot guys and keep rockin.

if you really want (alot) more speed you'll wan't to moddify your motor. toxicmarine modifies motor's for 175bux but I think his prices are going up to 200. you should send your prop to a propshop and have it blanced sharpened and polished(if it is not). you could also try to find a used prather 275 prop your's is a prather 270 or a eqiuvelent of another brand. the 275 might be too much though?

as for the waterpump,if you refrain from doin too much idling,it'll be ok,just remember those limits you set on yourself and your engine,(BTW,waterpumps are'nt that dumb to have and USE),don't know which line it is your talkin about......gas engines don't need pipe pressure as the carb has a pump in it,the best thing you can do for speed w/out touching the engine is a good,balanced,polished,sharpened prop....go with a 275....you can contact [email protected] give chris your boat(s) info and he can cut you a prop that would best suit your needs and possibly come up with one thats interchangeable for (usable) both boats...

I have the same problem with mine. I disassembled the pump and found nothing but in the process I noticed an exhuast leak on the header gasket,I made a new gasket ,maybe that causes a lower pressure in the engine. I will try it somethime this week if the heavy rains here in S.TX stop flooding our pond and lake. If you find a fix please let me know.

at mid-high speed, the design of this pulse type/diaphragm pump allows the water pick-up pressure to overcome the pulse,check for blocked /restricted lines/pick-ups.....

Exhaust leaks are very common,I check mine after about 30 minutes when running.
Shorten the line to the water pump will give the engine more boost.
275 prop works excellent.

This may sound dumb as r/c boats are new to me but if the lines are plugged how do you account for a healthy discharge at idle on both exhuast and engine outlets

just rethinking thing again there was a couple droplets of moisture in the line from the carb plate to the engine. Could this be a clue?

hi guys i just picked up a 1/8 scale miss lumar and have a good question for you . what kind of pipe will work on it and on my blackjack? i have heard they break alot and am looking for a good pipe and silencer if it doesent kill the power. also prop for the lumar? thinking i might want a 3 blade it works reallly well on my miss bud 1/12 hydro. thanks alot guys and i also talked to the people at bonzi and they will have the clutch soon.. and btw they have a 70 inch cat that is going on my wish list that will take inlines or side by side twins. man is this stuff gonna get me divorced.lol.

Hey Terry,
Its nick, the guy that sold you the boat. I have the sister boat the ellestom. You need to get two aout bailers for it and go clutchless after it breaks. My clutch lasted on season. If you make any other upgrades let me know how they work out, i want to try a little more spped out of mine!

hi nick , that is proof it is a small world. it just came today and is ging to the lake tomorow to get broke in. any tips? i was astonished when the ups truck pulled up and i couldnt see the driver cause the box was so big...lol. anyway it is nice to chat , and give me some suggs for the prop and pipe. the clutch will be fixed in about 2 weeks. thanks alot and btw the feedback will be sent right now that i am back at home. later
