Seen a guy around here with a HD v-twinn in a @14ft' cracker ramblin' down the river a few years back, I'm sure this one will toast'em. Sweet build!

Got cabin fever a few years ago. Built a 8' RC boat controlled from the beach by a adult or the normal kids in the boat.
41# thrust Minn Kota in a motor well at the back. Exterior plywood /stain /polyurathane.

The boat is in the dark right side of the picture.

That must move nicely with a #41 thrust. I have a #41 ,I believe, on my 13' Hobie Cat Sailboat and boy does she move with that #41 thrust!

Hello!

Thank you for the emails guys. I have a question about the #41 engine. What exactly is this engine? I never heard of it..... I love the dark wood color on the boat. On my Crackerbox project, I am still not sure what to do about the finish. Either all stainded wood grain finish or with a base coat/clear coat racing paint job with graphics. All my R/C models has the same style of racing design. You can check some on my profile on RCU.

Again, I appreciate any comments or ideas you can dish out on the build. I am almost finished applying the mesh/fiberglass on the exterior. I will post more pics soon.

Thanks.

It's just an electric trolling motor that is rated for 41 ft/lbs. Not anything super powerful, but it sure get's my little sailboat moving.

Hi,

Thought I would post a few pics of the boat build. I started to prep the boat for paint. I still need to add a velocity stack that will stick out from the vent and some other hardware. The motor mount is now being fabricated. I sat the helmet in the cockpit to give you an idea how it will look. I am working on a bust for the driver that will be more scale (somewhat....).

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Glenn,

I made some out of wood. I will contact you next week if you can cover them for me and maybe come and see the boat.

Hello!

Still working on the build. Just had some ideas on the paint scheme. I am planning to buy the GP Extra 330S 38% in the near futur and love the covering colors so I thought I could do something with the boat too.

I will have more details on the engine set up very soon. I will have the part ready this week coming.

Keep ya posted.

Dave,

are you going to bring your cracker down to Moncton for the Regatta?

Hi,

lildude2599, the engine worked like new before I shopped it up but I can only test it again when I get all the parts machined and welded. I will then try it before installing it in the boat. I don't see any problem about the engine doing its job but one of my concern is the prop sizing. I hope to use the stainless racing prop I got with the racing Mercury outboard. I may need to send it down to get it modified for this unusual project. I am sure I will be tinkering with many problem during the build. But, that the fun that comes with the hobby......right.

And yes DanS, I would love to bring the boat to the Moncton regatta this summer. I don't know if it will be fully finished and running but if I have it painted and with hardwre installed, I may bring it for dispay only.
I will never be able to bring this boat to the pond because of its size and with the access we have to the pond.
I included another paint job idea. May have a few more before I make up my mind.

Thanks.

Hello,

Just about ready to paint and add graphics to her. The body work was done by a friend of mine, Denis Frenette. A professional and meticulous bodywork / painter. Can't wait to see her all done-up.

Hi,

I took pictures when we were starting to add graghics on white. I must say that my friend Denis is really a talented bodyman/painter. He takes pride of his work and it shows. We both worked on the vinyl graghics I designed. It was easy because we could not use any water to set the vinyl decals. Everything used was water base and water could not be used.

Hi again,

I couldn't wait to post these pictures. This paint job is just fantastic. It took Denis 45 hours of hard work to make it look this good. WOW! I can't wait to put the hardware now.
Let me know what you guys think.
