You could fit that motor in most gas hulls. Question may be more if you should though. While it may be budget friendly - performance may be a little disappointing. Considering the work involved in building a boat (and the expense). Skimping on a motor (the biggest potential dictator of performance) does not always make a lot of sense.

I was using a 46" home made hull, it wouldn't even plane off. I used another weedie motor and the hull runs over 30 mph everything else the same. This was about 5 years and a dozen boats ago, still have the paper weight.
