!/8 scale hydro rear fin?
Hi guys, I work at a machine shop, so custom fabing is not a problem. I am going to cut and make the rear fin set up, on my PI 45" hydro.
Does anybody have rough dimentions of what the wing size, and angle would be. I cut some paper to what I think the size might be, just b looking at other hydro pics. so far I have about 7 and a half inches high, and 2 inches at top, and about 5 inches at bottom.
Does this sound about right? It seems the insane, and pro boat set up is very similar.
Any feed back would be great!

On a full sized hydro, the wing is about the same length as the tunnel is wide. I'll look at some of my color sheets for 1/8th scales and get back to you on the tail sizes as I think you are too tall at 7". How large is your boat?

You need to choose materials that have enough strength to handle the vibrations and potential blow overs. However, you also need to make sure it floats for when, not if, it comes off.

Very much so, Chuck. If the tails are made from wood, they need to be framed with spruce internally and skinned with either 1/32 or 1/16 aircraft plywood. If you go with glass, be sure to put some insulation foam or water tight areas in the wing and tails or they will sink very quickly
