exhust cooling
I have just finished putting a inline twin in a 55in forbuck cat it has twin cooper pipes mounted inside, I feel the heat generated from the pipes may be a problem as they run close to the hull sides and top I had the idea of passing water into the pipes and expelling out with exhust gases for extra cooling , there is a down angle on the pipes, any opinions please.

RE: exhust cooling
Just what I was going to suggest - how spooky. I have done this very thing in my Miami as the pipe runs forward in it and is next to the fuel tank, so far, so good. You can touch the mat with your finger after a run, and the plastic tank has not melted so it seems to do it's job.
I think you might loose power running water into the pipes, plus you risk getting water into an exhaust port.

RE: exhust cooling
injecting water into the pipe would make it seem longer then it is, making more torque but less peak RPM.
wrapping the pipes in header wrap will work. Ive seen quite a few boats with aluminum pipes fully enclosed in the hull under the cowl that didnt have much issues though.

I run a cooper pipe and through around the idea of have a wet pipe but because they have a baffle in them i think you could lose a bit of peak rpm but i'm all for a wet pipe. Does any one have a cross section diagram of a cooper pipe to see if they would be suitable for water
