I have a Zenoah that has been modified by Bonzi Sports, a BZ x 4, which is their race mod. What is a max rpm range for a fully mod'ed Zenoah? I have emailed and called Bonzi and havent gotten a response. I have ran 2-3 gallons of fuel through the boat and I am getting 14,800 rpms. Does that sound right?

The hull is their 50" Bonzi and prop is a Prop Shop 7015/2-Blade Propeller. Would the engine be 'broken in' enough after 2 gallons of fuel?
Stuch: Do you speak from experience? Why do you say that their race mod wont push anything above 14,800? If not, then they are false advertising and will be sued. I read good reviews that they are a reputable dealer, are they not?
Does anyone out here have a BZ x 4 that has RPM's in the 18k range like they advertise??

There are guys known for their quality motor work - I am just not sure that I could count Bonzi among them.
Max revs for a full mod zenoah - you should see 17-18000+ (loaded) if everythings going right

Yup, as an advanced tuner of zenoahs, Full mod engines when propped right and pipe length set right should run under load @ 16,500 to 17,500 RPM.
Most mod engines have a HP & Torque peak at @ 15 - 16K, but will slightly over rev at high hull speeds too @ rpm posted above.

Ive not a bad thing to say about the Bonzi Engines ive two bz4's in the cto3 19800 rpm on 67mm 3 blades
2 x bz1's that hit over 17400 rpm with a prather 275 55mph+ in my avenger & cyclone (7016/3)
ive never had a stock engine from them .OHHH & there customer service is second to none
A Genuine power house "full mod" is the uk built pmb zen 7 if you have got the dosh get one of those you will be very happy[sm=thumbs_up.gif] 19000/19500 rpm on the water [link=http://www.prestwich.ndirect.co.uk/zenoahmarineengines.htm]Dave's.pmb zen 7[/link]

See this is the thing, I can do 55mph with a 14.5 motor so where is all the rest of those RPM going?
Anything over 18k and your going to bend cranks from the Harmonics.
Bonzi doesn't race so how would they know what a "race motor" is?
A 50" big boat from them isn't exactly a "lean machine" you might have your sights a little high.
What speeds are you getting and what prop are you using?

I've got to agree with some of the guys here, the Bonzi' mod motors aren't all that and a bag of chips. We had one at the Fun Run a couple of weeks ago and wasn't impressed at all and it was the level 4 mod. A decently running stocker would have given it a run for its money.

Wayne must have a one off then , no make it two
,it seems odd if a full mod can only reach the same speeds as a stocker?.Sure maybe the mods may not be as good as some but if Wayne says hes getting those numbers then knowing him id say his figures are correct.Wayne what speed is your cto3 hitting now ,looks to be in the low to mid 60s from the vids? doesnt seem any lack of power to me whatsoever.

My 4 BZX4 motors timed similar to my CC motors, and i haven't had any issues with turning 17,600~17,900 with my bonzi motors.

I posted on this very same subject a while back , I also own a 50" Bonzi W/ BZX4 motor when I finally got a Sendec tach mounted I recorded 14,800 also w/ 7014 propshop 2 blade , but with a 6717/3 blade modded by Dasboata I got 16,800 and picked up 2 mph . I've since tested several props all very close and with a max speed of 52 mph which I believe is respectable for this combination as this is not a race boat. One point though dont get too hung up on RPM rather to me speed is more important , RPM lets you know how your prop is working. I actually went the fastest at 14,800 rpm with a larger diameter 3 blade than with the smaller @ 16,000 rpm. If anyone has gone faster ( GPS'd ) with this exact setup i'm always ready to learn more.

A digital moniter takes a direct reading off the coil/plug wire , I actually plug into the black wire from the coil instead of wrapping the spark plug wire .

Bonzi BZ1 w/Jeroen tunedpipe in a Rico 48" Offshore, and with an Octura X472 = 18,100 rpm. And the BZ1 is only modded in the piston. Works for me.
But if you want a full mod race motor, I would`nt go for th BZ4. Lots of others that makes better full mods. But if they will last as long as the BZ4.....?
