tried the novak capacitor and it helped but still kicking the fail safe here and there when the boat is far away.
Is the fact that I am running a digital servo on the throttle a problem?

Digital servos do draw more power than an analogue, but with a fully charged battery & the capacitor it shouldn't be kicking the failsafe in. Is your antenna run so that the maximum amount of wire is vertical? If the wire is laid down or coiled up it won't be as efficient as when it is routed vertically.
