Default Marine Grease

Is this the same stuff that they use on real boats or is there something different for rc?

Can I get it at NAPA or West Marine?

Thanks

Marine grease is water resistant and has is anti corroding...I dont think your planing on leaving your boat in the saltwater..

i use a big tub of thick white grease for boat outboard shafts/legs it wont seperate in the water so quick and it clings to the shaft it was also cheaper than wheelbearing grease i also though the old prather grease was good but its not around anymore or i havent seen it i . i will pm you a link ..lol..

I use marine grease with anti sling properties. It holds on to spinning parts better & doesn't make such a mess inside the boat. But after each run I pull the flex cable & needle bearing cartridge, spray them with carby cleaner & put it in a pvc tube full of diff oil anyway. Then spray all of the metal parts with WD40 & let dry to prevent corrosion.

Having friends who work in boat yards is a bonus, I get half used tubes & tubs of marine grease for free, & the amount of grease in the half used tub lasts me a long time.

Good call! I've been using Marine Bearing Grease from Pep Boys for the last 2 years. It works great and costs pennies compared to some of the mumbo jumbo mixes others use. Brian

I've tried a lot of concoctions and lubes over the years from the 50/50 mix of STP and 20w50 to Hughey, Prather, Grimmie grease, Speed Lube, lithium bearing grease and the list goes on.
One thing that I've been doing more lately is soaking the cables in a light oil, hydraulic fluid, MMO, ATF and the like to get something down in between the strands than just something that just coats the outside.
If I buy something that comes in a can or large tube I transfer some of it into an old pill bottle to carry in the toolbox.

A friend turned me onto "Speed Lube" since then I use nothing else and we now package and sell it too. I know of many records being broke using the same stuff. (like 100+ mph nitro runs and 69 + 76 mph gas records)

I wonder if it's the same friend that I got mine from, Mark Sholund. I got it from him a couple of years ago when he had a table in the swap meet area of the Toledo show.
When trying some different brands and types of cable lubes I did notice a gain in performance between some of them so after that it's not just any old grease will do.

I use Mercury Quicksilver 2-4-C. $9 for a big tube. I run a bunch of boats and lube often. A big tube easily gets me through a season of racing and running gas and FE boats.

And I agree, Zac is a good guy to deal with. Get some more 500 ml IV bags Zac!! I need a few.
