Default Insane mono Redline engine NFS steel pipe

Here's a few photos of my new Insane GerII and etc that was recently received, I will start building her next week, anyone who knows about how many trim tabs to install is the best for this 45" hull, please feel free to chime in, I'm going to install 2 or 4 trim tabs on her back even though the instructions didn't mention it.

It's a matter of opinion on the trim tabs. Mine is supposed to be set up with 1-3/4" x 1-3/4" tabs on the outside and 2" x 2" on the inside but the person sent me two sets of the 2" x 2" instead. Some like split tabs like what Top Secret Boats sells.
Oh yeah, nice boat and engine so far! I've got a weakness for yellow boats.
If all else fails, ask Insane what they recommend.

Thanks Ron, my trim tab size is 1-1/2" x 1-1/2", I have 4 of them, ok, I'll give Insane a call. Yellow boat is my favor...LOL

Here's the T-mod muffler, no leak flange and 2716 20* prop that I'm going to use.

This motor outputs [email protected] and [email protected] as the Dyno sheet shows.

Hi Eric, something i've always wanted to ask; is the idea then to prop the motor at the higher HP for the fastest speed?

Brod, I did run the same prop in my "Titanic" mono(it already sank in the pond..lol) and got 65.7mph, I don't know if it was a good speed for a mono hull or not, I know this prop is flighty so needed more than 35% CG to balance it back and may be need 4 trim tabs to do the same job too on my new build, this prop is also good for the cat, I'm sure it was the fastest prop for my Sprint cat in my opinion.

Make sure you stuff this hull full of floatation. You don't wan't it joining your old hull.

I'm personally a fan of no trim tabs or turn fins if you can avoid them, I say run it without them & only put them on if you need to.

My old mono had no trim tabs install but it went a bit up and down and rock on between flat and choppy water, I don't have much experience to build a mono, had a few mono guys told me to use the trim tabs which is the way to go to resolve the issues.

Ken,

Not wanting to get into too much debate here, because I suspect I know how the outcome will pan out, however, here goes: nothing in the water that is not needed is the way to go for best speed, it is all drag you do not need. Put that prop into a box for hulls other than monos, and try to find a prop that gives good peformance and some stability. (That one won't on a mono).
Like everything, it takes time and some persistance lake side to find a good set up.

Try to build compensation for the bad attributes of surface drive as you put the boat together, and some adjustment to make it all work as easy as you can.

Have fun.

I'm out of here.

Thanks for the reply Glenn, that's why I started this thread here about the trim tab thing, I know these tabs would create lots of drags but I would also like to see my new build run more stable and with some decent speed, let me call insane tomorrow for what's the best setup as they didn't recommend the trim tabs in the setup sheet.

Again. Not to worry though.
