Default blown crank bearings on bj55

took my boat out for another trial run tonight and the motor blew. took apart the motor and the rod bearing is gone. Where is the best place for zehona parts? Might look and see if i can put an echo engine in it.

If the rest of the motor is shot also? I would pop a new RCMK from Gizmo in it. You need to find out why it blew up so it does not happen again?

I have ordered up some new parts from gismos. really would have liked to get a mod motor but don't want to spend the extra cash right now.
I have been using synthetic oil 50:1 ration like it says.

Where did you come up with 50-1? See attachment from page 6 of the BJ55 owners manual. 32:1 is okay for an unmodded motor in temperate climates.

Sorry to hear what happened. Your not the first I am sure to use what many labels define as 50:1 oil misleading one to believe that oil it is designed for that ratio in any engine.

As already said. 12.8(10oz) - 16(8oz) : 1 oil- gas ratio is required for engines serving marine duty. They run at full power 95% of the time. The extra oil actually makes more power besides. Just because it is called 50:1 doesn't mean that is what a particular engine needs. Typically small engines require more oil than larger displacement engines hence the reason they list the different mixing ratio's right on the bottle of those 50:1 premix compatible oils. What it really means is it could provide protection at ratio's up to 50:1 if that was the particular engines recommended requirements.

so what ratio should I run. I work on and sell high quality power equipment and it all runs 50:1 synthetic oil as do my snowhawks. I did not recieve a manual for my boat , but was sure i read somewhere that it should run 50:1.. please do get me on track. thanks Les

The information in my post above is copied and pasted straight from the BJ55 owners manual. Some like a little more oil. I live in a cooler climate so the standard OEM ratio works fine for me. Like Daniel stated above the load or duty cycle on these engines is significantly higher then cars or other uses for the engine. In short your paddle is always in the water getting her done! Find a deal on a stock Zenoah PUM260 and have fun. I wouldn't bother with a modded motor as the hull is probably not the best for that.

For stock engines 16-1 ratio or 8oz per gallon for modded motors run a bit more as Daniel posted 10 oz.

Some guys use a name brand non-synthetic oil with 87 octane pump gas for break in (1 gallon). I personally use the samething at all times.

I do the same . honda HP2 comes in 16oz, bottle so I mix (8oz, HP2 to 1 gallon camp fuel) & run it like you stold it.

...arent all 2 stroke engines supposed to run 25:1 ratio? Im running mine at 25:1 without problems so far.

Nope not at all, larger engines usually run leaner(up to 50:1 premix or even less on oil injected engines) oil/gas ratio's but our small high rpm engines used for marine duty require the highest(lower numerically)ratios of all two strokes. 12.8(10oz)-16(8oz):1 ratio is what will give you the best protection with even better performance than with less oil and give you a bit of extra protection from an overlean(lean needle, loose manifold or carb or maybe a seal leak, etc) overheat(something get on pickups, line blow off, etc) or a overrev condition (too small a prop, excessive cavitation, choppy water allowing higher rpm's than normal for appropriate prop or a run up the beach at full throttle, etc).
