Default What do we have here??????

This is not my boat, however I did the offer to make it run better. Also I would like to know what is and perhaps the manufacturer. The owner of the hull does not know anything about it. So here are the pics.

There's a boat that you won't see in Michigan every day! You must have the only one in the district if not for hundreds of miles around.
A rough shot would be that it came from overseas, Europe or South Africa.
It could be an Ossi.

While I have not seen the hull as yet - I am guessing she is Chinese. If not then the motor, pipe, hardware, fuel tank, and radio box all are of Chinese origin.

Not a bad looking boat - be interested in seeing how she goes

Now that you mention it Matt, the strut and rudder setup I've seen a lot on eBay and the hull does appear to be something that the Asians would produce. The Zenoah engine could be a clone.

The engine is definitely a clone. It seems to run okay however it would not transition from low speed to high speed very well. Since the boat has been in the club it hasn't even made it to the first turn. Some knuckle head used a grease gun hose for a stuffing shaft. I just replaced with a brass tube with no liner. Hopefully I can give it shot this weekend.

Thanks for all your help

The carbs aren't too hot on the clones so that neds to be replaced with a real Walbro.
You might be running at the same place that Darla runs her boats. It seems like she told me that she runs in Clarkston.

I did replace the Diaphram with a walbro I had sitting around. It will transition better now however it seems really rich on the high side. I think it was like 2+ turns out on the high (Comparing to the zen or the rcmk). Like I mentioned earlier the boat has never made it to the first turn, so the chances of the engine being broke in is slim.

Do you recall what lake Darla runs on?

She did say something about running or trying to run at a club lake in Clarkston.
I have to give her a call as I haven't talked to her since she went in for surgery about a month ago. Maybe I'll give her a call tonight as I was going to last night but didn't. Darla might have some gas boat parts laying around.

Probably not. I've got the big race to go to in Hobart, IN next weekend then have to get ready for the record trials in Flint. I missed the Saginaw race as that's one of my favorites but I didn't want to risk breaking anything before the Indy Masters.
I've been to the Rochester Hills race twice in the past. If you go, be careful in the launch area, it's slippery.
This weekend is nuts. I'm meeting up with a new member here Saturday to help him out with his new Sprint Cat then rolling up to Grand Rapids Sunday to help another guy get his new gas Sport hydro wet for the first time and maybe get my little Sport .12 going. Monday, final tuning before heading out Thursday AM for Hobart.

I don't race yet. However, my Sprint Cat just started get up around 55 - 60 so maybe next year I will have something to compete with.

Good luck in Hobart. Perhaps I will meet you at the Flint trials.

Hi All,
Looks very much like this hull which is a Chinese product.
LOA is only 39". Test run in Johannesberg SA with a Stock Zen and they can tell you the performance.

Happy Boating all.

IMEX boat, I have seen there products up close.... (personal opinion removed so as not to offend)

I will add this in response to a previous post "Some knuckle head used a grease gun hose for a stuffing shaft." no its built that way from IMEX.

Aw, come on Cheese, I know that you want to!
The past few years there have been some of the IMEX boats for sale at a booth at the Toledo show but I haven't seen that one there. The guys at the booth would make a used car salesman envious! I've never heard so many lines of BS in my life! So many unknowing souls walking away from the booth smiling ear-to-ear thinking that they had gotten the best deal at the show but felt sorry for them at the same time. Had they done a simple 180 they would have seen boats with much higher quality.

Ron, you dont know how tempted I am, just not worth the effort to voice oneself in the open sometimes.

Sad part of the whole thing is these same folks show up at the lake and want you to fix their 60mph boats . I have never turned anyone down but it sure does take away from the time I could be spending with my boat.

To everyone have a relaxing and safe Holiday weekend.
Leo
