Paul , Yes the cowls are removable now but I'm not 100% satisfied with it yet . I'm still getting a slight warpage on the edge . I'll be redesigning it soon . I want to finish the DaVette SS first .
speed32Bmax - A twin might be alittle much but worth trying

OK. I'll keep an eye out, Dana. Another TAF is definitely in the cards for me one day and a removeable cowl would really simplify things.
I like the way speed328 thinks. Cmon, Dana. A little much? Hey, it's a drag boat, why not
Heck I was thinking of side by side twins or a QD 35[:-]

Dana, what kind of speeds are you getting out of these now? What effect did the submerged drive have? Seems like it would be really hard to unload the prop with it under the boat like that. Did Nico do this?

If you get the right prop submerged drive can actually be faster on takeoff than surface drive and what you also get is a much more stable ride in turns bothe left and right but this been a drag boat im not sure turns are important lol .If you have ever seen the multi boats or fsrv over here then you would understand just what i mean as these things turn at full tilt and i dont mean ovals either i mean you can turn as sharp as you like.

Yep , I have to agree with Mart . Submerged drive is the way to go with a runner bottom hull . I have a 467 prop on there now and it's 2mm from hitting the bottom . It was alittle doggy at take off but once the RPM's got up it was crazy fast . I'll install a clutch and have the prop modified and that should help in the take off's .
I didn't bring the GPS on the first test so I don't know what speeds I was getting . I mainly wanted to test the new strut and see what this new HMH engine would do .

Well the plugs are made , Now I'm in the process of trimming the capsule and making a new bed joint for the capsule to sit on . The new bed joint will be 1/2" lower . You can see in the photo how much I took out of the capsule .

Dana,
I can see the differece on the deck of the new ss, is there any difference on the bottom of the hull? Will the new boat be any faster han the last redesign? I still haven't been able to get enough time off from work to be able to build the ss I purchased from you but I am anxiously awaiting delivery of the new drag hull. The quality of your boats is awesome.

RE: DaVette SS Redesign
I thought this was a SS redesign thread
Dana,
Have you GPS'd this boat? Crazy fast for me is 70-80. The Red Alert was about 45-50 and it was the shallow V and it was heavy with all the cr@p I put on it.

I GPS'd the DaVette SS and the best I got was 48 mph with a stock Zenoah and a 270 prop . I dropped a mod Zenoah in her and it was a real eye opener . Never got around to checking the speed though .
Yes as I get closer to finishing the DaVette Runner mods I'll post a new thread on it . Lets keep that design out of this thread .
