RE: Exhaust Help

Daz non of the American pipes will work as theyre too loud, the last one linked might be ok,it is quiet but i have no clue if its legal or not.I get mine here.

RE: Exhaust Help

Cheers mart
this is the problem no states DB levels so makes it harder to try and find the right 1 to comply
i can always add a silencer aswell but need to stay with in the 2.5" exposed<br type="_moz" />

The one that Mart linked to I don't know if it's quiet enough to be legal in the UK. If it's the same one that I saw at the Toledo show, the pipe is really heavy and could throw your CG off. Yes, it's that bad! It's a knock-off of the Jerotune pipe that was made famous in Germany. The original should be legal for you as I own a copy but it might be too loud yet for you. The quietest one that I own is an older Cooper Quiet pipe, no longer made.

This picture may be small but it's a comparison between the Quiet pipe and the Cooper Cobra which is very close in size to your Zippkit's pipe.

The problem with dB rules is the location of the site. Your pipe may be fine in one place but too loud in another as the sound can reflect depending on the environment. There was an IMPBA Internat's race here in the states that had this problem.

RE: Exhaust Help

Thanks ron
the prolem i got is they state 80db at 10mtrs away and can only have 2.5" of exhaust uncovered if i run the fake OB cowl thats not a problem BUT its too loud as it is but cant add the silencer or it would be too much uncovered
so a shorter quieter pipe is the only way forward its just finding the right 1
if that 1 is heavy i can move the fuel bag forward to compensate but its not ideal really but once i know how it performs under race conditions and if anything needs changing i will do a new build with the nessary changes to the rules
I never planned on racing it but it will help prove my F1 design or help with moving forward with the design

RE: Exhaust Help

This will give you an idea of how quiet the Cooper Quiet pipe is. I had it laying around and decided to try it out when I first built the Blast Cat. It since has been replaced with the Cooper Cobra.

I've probably got a video of my Drag Cat with the Jerotune clone on it.

Mart's link is OK .. as it's a copy of my design (original ones @ RCImport.nl)

They will meet the Naviga ruling .

And for Ron ... sorry to disappoint you .. but Jeroen-tune/elSpeedy is also a copy ... ha ha

Original design is a concept by Paul Swaelen (PPB) and me (HX-silencers) .. made by Jaap den Hartog (JdH-exhausts)

And we are no Germans .. we are Dutch .... :-)

For Daz ... see image .... > website [link=http://www.edelstahl-reso.de.tl/Home.htm]L I N K [/link]

This is the 27cc version ... there is a 400mm 30cc version too.

Edit .. did some photoshopping :

Hi Henk i allready recomended you to Daz i knew you designed that pipe, not even sure if it will work for him as i dont know the dimensions of his hull etc but im sure someone with the skills ;) could custom make a pipe for his f1 tunnels if need be.
Mart
ps Daz those pipes ar obviously heavier than the ali pipes but i havent found them too bad but Ron does have a valid point, might not be too much of an isue seeing as yours is r exh and as you say move the fuel bag forward to compensate.
pps love this coment lol

Just to be sure that "they" in the USA , do not think the good stuff only comes from Germany. :-)

And I can reveal .. that some goodies are made in Germany .. but designed/prototyped elsewhere. ;-)

Overhere the clubs have dB meters , cause they have to ... because race-rules forbit over 82dB.
Sometimes you can ask the police .. as they should have them.

you can get Db meters online for fairly cheap, and if you have an I phone there's apparently an app for that... $.99 for the one I saw
